Anyone know a good ground transporter for puppy? Hi, I have puppies right now and have talked to a YT member who is inquiring about a puppy. I dont fly my puppies, but would consider ground transportion with a reputable transporter if anyone has ever used one, please let me know what you think. We would be going from Indiana to Virgina. About 10 hours by car if it works out. Thanks Jill |
I don't know of a 'ground transport,' but I would definately use one since the pup(s) will be so young. Normally, you can find YT members along the way willing to make a 'train.' I would help if I lived in that area.:( Good luck.:) |
Thanks! I wont let them be shipped until they are 12 weeks old or maybe even older, I will have to see what my vet recommends when they are 12 weeks. If this doesnt work out I will be looking for a good breeder for her in that area. Thanks again! |
I have driven more than 10 hours to pick up a puppy. It's a wonderful time to be able to bond with the puppy. Why is the potential buyer unable to do this? Or, could you meet half way? I will also add that ground transport is also stressful so make sure they have Nutrical and the items necessary to feed the pups every couple of hours. |
I agree, ground transport is WAY too stressful for a small yorkie puppy, Either your buyer needs to come to you, or you need to meet half way, or deliver the puppy. A life is just too important to compromise for convenience. Quote:

Another option would be for you to fly the pup or the new owner to fly to it. we have used ground transportation once. Not our choice but the buyer. The man pulled up with this huge outfitted dog trailer and all kinds of dogs in it. They were in separate crates but no way would I send a small one. the dog we had sold was an adult male. The man said he stopped every two hours to feed, water and walk all the dogs. The customer paid about four hundred dollars for this service. |
Thank You!! Thanks for everyones replys to this. I had not heard of anyone's experience with ground shipping, I am not sure about flying a puppy. And honestly I dont know if weather conditions have a bearing on things or not, but they wouldnt be ready to fly until December and I think it would be too cold for them to fly. I dont know the pros and cons to flying except for shorter period of time, but thank you so much for all of your input. I think with what has been said, I will not choose ground transportation. Thanks so much! |

ohhhhh silly me! Oh I thought you meant to put the puppy in cargo and I dont think I could do that. The lady who was going to purchase decided to go with someone closer. BUT I have another lady who is going to get one who lives in CT and she is going to fly here and pick one up. So thats going to work out good. Thanks for all you YT members input on this! |
