Are you in heat yet? I have a little girl and she is very small, does anyone have any ideas how i will know if she has a season. Last month she got really really cuddly and continually cleaned but no sign of anything. How on earth do i tell???!!!! |
First her vulva starts to swell then she will start bleeding. Some girls are very clean and lick alot during this time and you can't hardly tell. If she's very small, under five pounds is the recommended, certainly keep her away from intact males. Breeding them very small is very dangerous to the pet. Good luck to you. |
Thanks She gets to play with other dogs, and although we will let her have a litter. She is too small yet and should enjoy puppyhood first.:D |

on a more serious note....please have her spayed if she doesn't reach 5 lbs...and be very cautious about 'playtimes', many times girls can be having an undetected heat and the boys will know before you do. 'Accidents' can happen very quickly and panties and belly bands will not serve as adequate protection. |
I see, she's a still a puppy. They come into heat 6-7 months and up. Usually around 9 sometimes later. She'll mature and be ready her second heat cycle. |
OK, so which is it...has she been in heat or not?:questione http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...151#post704151 |

and nicolaf22...from my only experience with my 2 girls - it CAN be hard to tell - but...don't get mad at me for saying this - but if she is so tiny - 'letting her have a litter' may not be the way to go....My Cheri is 5.5 lbs and there is no possible way I'd ever breed her - she is too fine framed - please think this thru very carefully.... When I talked to my vet a long time ago - (he encouraged me to breed my Chanel) and I said it had crossed my mind - the first thing he said to me was...."Are you prepared to lose her if something goes wrong ?" that changed my mind then and there. |
Ok, i may have misled you slightly. We are in the UK and our 'tiny' is just not as 'tiny' as yours. Shes probably classed as a small. Most def not teacup size. Also in my family we are used to Dalmations, American Bulldogs, Alsatians and Malamutes. So considering those in my eyes shes tiny!!! But spoke to the vet about her and shes no way too small for a litter. I just want her to have one and then im getting her spayed. I just found out i cant have any more children and have had to have my tubes taken out at the age of 29 and i dont want to take away my babies chances of having puppies. Silly i know, but i think she has the right to have them and keep them with her. |

However, there is a huge difference between people having children and dogs having puppies. Think of the reasons why people choose to have kids and tell me if you think those same reasons would apply to dogs. I would think not.:( The two situations are not comparable. Please do not use that as a reason to breed your girl. |
Omgggg Tooooooooooo Funny!!!!!!! |

Sorry if this sounds rude, but you are doing this for selfish reasons...not for the benefit of your dog.:thumbdown |
Hello, Vets says she is NOT too small. We dont have tiny yorkies in the Uk like you do in america. She is probably only slightly smaller than a US Standard. Although that is small to us. She is a gorgeous little girl and will have lovely puppies if i let her. (still not sure). Shes just so lovely i dont want her to be on her own. Thanks to some advice. Although very RUDE. We are looking at maybe getting another girl to keep her company. Not such easy dogs to get in this company although there seems to be an awful lot of people advertising to ship teacup yorkies for FREE from your country. But i think that sounds a bit odd!!! |
