CKC Certified Male looking for a Female My boyfriend and I have a male Yorkie named Nixon. He will be 9 months on the 7th. We are looking into breeding him. He is CKC registered and he is very handsome. We wanted advice on how to go about studding him out. Any suggestions? We are both new to this whole breeding aspect. Thanks, Corrine&Matt |
he really shouldn't bee bred until he is at least a year old altho AKC recognizes studs at eight or nine months, I think. Don't know about CKC. Then, you should have genetic testing done. You should research his background (pedigree) to see if there are any flaws in it. After you have done all this, you need to write up a stud contract and decide what you will charge for a stud fee. You will find many people will want you to take "pick of the litter." it is not wise to do this unless you just want another puppy. For one thing, you cannot bred the puppy you would keep back to him . I am in the process of having genetic testing done on my little male. He has been bred once but only to my own dog. He is 3.3 lbs. |
What are his qualities ? What are his faults ? Before thinking of breeding a dog , peoples most know how to evaluate a dog . |
