Whelping Help - DVD? Hi Everyone, I have a pair of Yorkies. Well my vet says he is 98% sure Lexi is pregnant. She is now 6 weeks along - due on her Birthday Sept 14th. Her belly is not growing - I don't feel any babies yet. But she has many pregnancy symptoms. Does the belly get larger towards the end? Will bring her in for X-Ray closer to the due date. This will be her 1st litter & my 1st time to assist. I've read about Debbie Jenson's Whelping Video. Just wondering if anyone has seen it??? I think seeing a video will help tremendously. Just wondering what you think about it. Thanks, Kim Eskind |
Good Question. I'd say yes to Debbie Jenson! She has a website with lots of great info on it too! There may be something better out there but I'd say that Debbie Jenson's DVD would be a good starting point. |
Hi Kim: My Libby is due the same weekend! She is SOOO obviously pregnant. Has gained over a pound, tummy is quite large, she waddles and her nipples are much bigger than before. We should stay in touch and compare notes. |
I would think at this stage she would be waddling by now and you would be able to feel the pups moving easily just by placing your hand on her belly. How big is the Mom? If she is large and has only one pup then maybe what your describing is normal. Here's some other helpful sites. www.homestead.com/malteseluv/whelping1.html www.hilltopanimalhospital.com/reproduction.htm www.dogbreedinfo.com/whelping.htm |
There is a whelping DVD by Terri Shumsky for sale at the Liver shunt fund page. The proceeds go to help Yorkies with PSS and I hear its very a very good DVD for whelping info. I'm sure the Debbie Jensen one would also be good but I haven't heard from anyone who has seen it. http://tsfannymaelivershuntfund.home...ngelGifts.html |

Lexi is normally 5 1/2 lbs - now she is 6 1/2 lbs. When the Vet was feeling her belly when she was 4 1/2 weeks along, he said she was swollen & he thought he felt a puppy (98% sure). My male is small (4 lbs). Maybe only one puppy in the rib area. I will check out the websites you suggested. Thanks so much, Kim |

LEXI had her X-Ray at the Vet's yesterday. She is NOT Pregnant. We thought she had only pup because her belly wasn't growing. Must be a False Pregnancy or her just Maturing being her 1st heat. Good Luck with Libby's whelping. I'll be waiting to see pictures posted. :animal-pa Kim:animal-pa |
Terri bred and showed Yorkies, I believe this is yorkies whelping. They also have a Yorkie grooming DVD by her. Here is how she described her video (DVD now) on her webpage. Now of course the liver shunt foundation she started gets all the proceeds. This video is not a Cecille B Demille production but is full of very good information. A portion of the 1978 Super 8 film "How Toy Puppies are Born" may seem a bit fuzzy on your video but it is still full of great information. Covers docking of tails and dew claws, artificial insemination, natural breeding, how toy puppies are born, 3 different whelpings including tube feeding and a C-Section. |

Hi, I didn't order the DVD. My Lexi had a false pregnancy, so I decided to wait. If it has been a few weeks since your order, I would contact Paypal to see if they can get a email reply. Good Luck, kim |
