question about breeding I dont have a yorkie baby yet but going sunday to look at a sweet little girl. Her parents are both full blooded yorkies but not registered. I have been doing research and looking for just that one for a year or so and I think I have found her. My question is down the road if I decide to breed her is it ok to do so since she wont be registered herself? Thank you for your help. Kelli |
I would opt to hold out and find a female that is registered. What aren't the parents registered? What is the reasoning behind that? Also, if you plan on breeding, what attributes are you currently looking for in a breeding female? |
Mmmmm Im not sure why their not registered. And I dont know that it really matters to me that they arent. I just have really wanted a Yorkie for a while now----papers or no papers. I havent really even decided if I want to breed its just something to think about. But is it wrong to breed them without papers? Thats what Im not sure of. Thanks |

I don't know this breeder, but often if they are not registered, it is not exactly favored...ESPECIALLY if you are planning to breed.:) |
I just want to say that just because dogs are not registered, does not mean there is necessarily anything 'wrong'. We bought a yorkie because we wanted a small dog that did not shed. We never sent in her papers, as we had no intention of breeding or showing her. We acquired a yorkie boy about 6 months ago because he was being neglected (a friend's neighbor had him and was able to convince the owner to sell him for $150.00). If he has papers, I don't know because all we were concerned with was getting him into a good home (he probably weighed 3 lbs when we got him...you could feel every single bone in his body). Well...we had not gotten our girl fixed yet (they are both about 4 years old), he was not fixed, and now I may be dealing with a pregnancy. So...I just wanted to point out that it's not ALWAYS bad that the dogs have not been registered. Our girl goes to the vet in a few days to get checked out to see if she IS pregnant or having a fasle pregnancy. I am not an expert and I know everyone here knows alot more than me about breeding, etc., but I just wanted to share my scenario. Pam |
