Anyway, I think she will have 2-3, unlike Angel Baby, who is HOPEFULLY pregnant (about 2 weeks along, if she is). Her mama had 6,7 and then 9 pups! YIKES!! |
When Allie was pregnant, my husband and I would put her in between us in bed and feel the puppies all night. Too bad she's so tiny and not both of our hands would fit at once so we had to take turns. |
Ok, so I'm not the only one that feels like a "grandma-to-be"? Whew! ;) :D |
That is so cute. It is nice to see and feel this. It is a little miracle - the ones that give you goose bumps, you know. |
I felt our puppies today for the first time too! Isn't this so exciting. This is my first ever litter of Yorkies. I used to breed Boxers, years ago, and had forgotten how much fun it can be. Hope your delivery goes well. Chloe is due Aug. 26th, only two weeks to go. Make sure you send us pictures of the little darlings! |
How incredible! I was never able to feel Chizzie's puppies. |
OMG, I got out all the stuff I'd printed off DebbieJensen.com and got the calendar out. I realized I miscounted and Chloe is due next Saturday, not the 26th. I'm frantically trying to get everything ready. I was going to take her in for an x-ray next Saturday. Is it too late now? I went out searching for one of those plastic swimming pools to use as a whelping box, but nobody had one - too late in the season. I have one of those plastic tubs I could cut down, but it looks too small. Anyone have some approximate dimensions? I could actually build something real quick (quite handy with tools, thank you!) In all my frustration at Wal-Mart, I forgot to buy the aspirator, but I can stop on my way home tomorrow. I'll start taking her temp in the morning. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. She doesn't look really big, so I'm guessing she's only going to have a couple, which is fine - one for me, one for my sister. Sure wish I were independently wealthy so I didn't have to go to work this week!:aimeeyork :D |
i saw that cut down storage box on Debbie's site but my hubby veto'd that idea saying she would drag her tits over the rough edge and it would make her raw. Also, we felt the little plastic pool would be too large. I have one of the small ones but it is still tooo large. They need a place they can be warm and cozy. So our Walmart has these kind of flat storage bins that slide under the beed. They have a large one and a kind of meduim size one. I think it only comes in twwo sizes. it is made by stearlight or something like that. It is only about five inches or so high. So, i bought an X-pen (needed it for the pups later anyway and set it up in my bedroom in the rectangle shalee. Oblong. Since I have carpet in there, I had this piece of left over flooring that I put under it. Then I set the whelping box in the end of it. I have pee pads in the other end and will put Silk's bed in it after the puppies grow a little so she won't mash them. I have her food and water dish in the x-pen also. I bought one of those postage scales at office Depot for about thirty bucks. it weighs in pounds and ounces and tenths of ounces up to five pounds. I have all mmy stuff in a box and am just waiting. and waiting, and waiting. Good luck |
I don't know how big Chloe is, but a swimming pool seems way too big. I just use a clear underbed storage container, about 20" x 30", and that works well until about 3 weeks old. An x-ray can be done right up until the time she delivers. |
Well, after I cut the storage box, I realized the edges would be rough, so I covered them in paper towels and tape; looks like hell, but that's beside the point. I realize now it was wasted time because I had turned it upside down which means I can't open it to help her if she needs it. $5. down the drain! I saw those Sterlite boxes at Wal-Mart today. I think I will go back and buy one, that way I can see what's going on. Maybe this will make a good house for the pup I plan to keep, or just trash it. So, yours are due soon too? I'm a nervous wreck. I'm so afraid something is going to happen while I'm not here. A friend has offered to come over and doggy-sit if necessary; may have to take her up on it. What is an x-pen and where might I get one? We have a postage scale at work I may borrow, just thought of it. The main problem I'm having right now is that Chloe always sleeps with me and she jumps off the bed without me knowing it. I don't realize she's gone until she cries to get back up. She won't use the stairs I bought. I'm sure it's not good for her to be jumping this far (antique bed - higher than normal). I might have to make a pallet on the floor for us. I'm sure I'll come up with something once I calm down. You're right, the pool was probably too big. I remember using those when I bred Boxers. Good luck to you. Let me know when your angel(s) arrive.:animal36 |
