I got scammed Recently I sent a woman $500 to send me a beautiful teacup yorkie puppy. I was scammed and never got a puppy. My Shaza died in Katrina and because of money problems I have not been able to replace her. It took me a whole year to save up the $500 that I paid out to only be tricked. I have searched all over louisiana for other yorkies for sale and have found none that I can afford. I have limited money. I tried to go and adopt a small breed dog from a local shelter but the adoption fee was too expensive. I really want another teacup because I miss Shaza very much. Though I dont have money I do have access to cheap transportation, so if anywhere, anyone is reading this knows of anyone giving away a teacup or by some miracle selling one for a small price then please let me know. After being scammed I do not want to trust anyone on the internet because they all require money. It has been a horrible time for me since Katrina and I want a new baby to keep me company, as I am in a new city and alone. If anyone can help, please let me know. |
where was this person from that scammed you?b y must it be a smaller yorkie? Wouldn't you be happy to have the love of any yorkie? |
I am sorry you are having such a bad time. Hopefully if you keep looking someone will have what you are looking for. I have see some pretty inexpensive yorkies that for one reason or another the owner couldn't keep in ads and even on here. If you were open to a little larger one you will probably have better luck in finding one. Also the tinies can require expensive medical bills that may stran your budget furter. Good luck your baby will show up. |
Don't give up something will come thur....I am sorry you got scammed, God knows you have been thur enough.....Good Luck & welcome to YT!!!:) |
Too bad you didn't find this site first. We have had many threads about scammers. I would suggest that you find breeders in your area and contact them. They may happen to have one that they are willing to sell at a discount. The larger ones are usually less expensive than the tiny ones. and ironically they are also more robust and have fewer health issues. |
Hello and welcome to Yorkie Talk! Very sorry about what happened to you, it's a shame that people set out to deliberatey take advantage of someone who wants a puppy so bad. I'm very deeply sorry that you lost your Yorkie, how old was she? I'm sure she meant the world to you, and you will never be able to replace her, a new baby can help heal your heart, I know this cause I went through it as well. I'm sure somewhere out there is a new Yorkie waiting for you. My suggestions is to keep searching petfinder in the classified ads, you can search your state. Another option is Yorkie rescue, we have several threads about Yorkies in need of a good home. It's really sad that you didnt find YT sooner, it could have saved you $500. Have you reported this to anyone? |
Welcome to YT. There are lots of scams out there. Sorry you were a victim not only of Katrina but losing your precious baby and then to this scammer. Keep looking and your baby will be out there somewhere. Beware of the work "teacup". As you will find if you read on the breed, there is no such thing. The yorkie standard is 5-7 lbs. Ones that are bred specifically to be tiny are high susceptible to lots of illness (not to mention this is unethical breeding). Good luck to you. |
how were you scammed? you should report it and get your money back or at least try .you need to save up more money also. if you can't really afford to pay for a yorkie how will you pay for it's shots/food medical needs? not trying to be rude but that's all part of it and needs to be taken into consideration. there's no such thing as a tea cup yorike it's just something people say/advert to sale the little dogs for more money. my yorkies are bigger and i'm just fine with that. please do more research and preperation before getting a yorkie. you can get small dogs from shelters & rescue groups for less than $500 just keep looking/trying. |
How horrible! I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Were you purchasing over the internet? Unless you personally have gotten to know a breeder, I'm a firm believer that you go and look at the pups yourself. You can tell a lot more by seeing them in person than you can in pictures, anyway. Best of luck to you. |
That is horrible! You need to report this! How did you get this woman's name - (ie. was it a pet website, newspaper ....)(is she a breeder?). Depending on the circumstances will determine who "all" you should report this too. What is her name and where does she live so that we also know to avoid her? I too was scammed - bought a "teacup" at a "teacup price" that turned into a 7lb dog -- they had lied about the puppies weight (was big already when I received it on the plane) |
Thank you all so much :) I got scammed over the internet. I sent money via western union to someone who claimed to be a breeder. I did contact the police and filed a report, but they basically told me that the information I had about the person was fake, the report will get out there but the odds of me getting my money back are slim. The scammers claimed to be from Georgia. After more research on this site and others I found out that there are oh so many scams like this online. I am looking for a local breeder but not finding much luck, especially considering my current financial state. I am not going to give up my search and decided to put up my experience on sites like this one so other people will be aware, and also so I may find another baby to love. I appreciate all the very loving comments from all of you. It really makes me feel a lot better to know that there are people out there who can sympathize. I got Shaza as a present and she was 1 and a half when I lost her. I would love to have any size yorkie, but I guess I just miss her so much that I want one just like her. |
Welcome to yorkietalk! It's sad that you got scammed but it's good that you found yorkietalk because they defineitely help a lot! For future refrence I would like to inform you that teacup is a term used by backyardbreeders and puppymills and doesn't exist and usually a teacup has health problems but I won't go into details if you would like more info on teacups and puppymills type in teacup or puppymill in the search bar above on the screen! Again I say welcome to Yorkietalk! |
Hello and welcome to YT. I am so very sorry that you lost your baby during the storm and that you got scammed. I hope that very soon you will be able to find a puppylove to help fill the hole in your heart. |

Sorry for your loss I can empathize with you as I lost my beautiful Persian cat that I had had for many years due to Katrina/Rita evacuation. We took him with us when we evacuated and stayed in our RV. Our children & grandchildren were staying nearby and since ours was the largest & the weather was terrible, our RV was frequently chaotic & almost always full. I could tell that he was very stressed out and the day after we returned home to try to clean up, he just died. I honestly think that the stress of traveling & the state our home was in when we returned just gave him a heart attack. Oops, sorry I didn't mean to make this all about ME! Anyway we just got a little Yorkie pup and love her to death. Yours will come too. I do agree with the others. If you were willing to give a little on the size or age, I believe you will be able to find one sooner. In God's time, |
