Help! Please! Hello everyone, I'm new here, but basically just reading from threads to thread..and I'm in the middle of my search for a baby Yorkie and find this forum very helpful and everyone seems very accomodating and helpful. Anyways, I came across this classified ads http://classifieds.yahoo.com/result....sort=-datesort and some of them gave their yorkies for FREE you just have to pay the shipping. I reply to couple of them saying that I'm very interested and base on the emails, they are giving the dog for free but have to pay $300 for the shipping, and that I should go to Western Union to transfer the money. Do you think that this is legit and not a scam? Because you know what was weird 2 different people reply to me, and coincidently they are both missionaries, and both in Africa...My husband says that I shouldn't believe such thing that I should go and take a look at the puppies first. Now I'm confused...at first I'm arguing with my husband becaue I truly believe in them because for me no one in their right mind would scam a person using God's name. See so that's why I'm seeking advice from you guys.... If you browse through the site that I've pasted, you could see, 1 of the owner's name is Karen Griffin and the other is Simon Kinberg. Can anyone please give me advice and help me out? Thanks very much!!! |
RUN THE OTHER WAY AND LISTEN TO YOUR HUSBAND - that's a major scam going on all over the net.....They have no puppies -most of them Steal pictures of other peoples puppies for those ads.... and NEVER SEND MONEY Via Western Union - you will never see it again nor will you ever see a puppy !! IF you ever have to send someone money - USE your Credit Card or Pay Pal. But it IS best to see the dogs in person - your husband is right on all counts. IF it sounds too good to be true - IT IS Usually !! Here is a thread where you can see people talking to one of the scammers - they are very good at what they do - remember - their SOLE purpose in life is to get OUR Money http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42801 |
It is definetely a scam. Never send money without going to see the pup, or knowing or talking tothe breeder. This scam has been going for some time now. MaryKay |
NO DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY. Your husband is right, it is a scam. They will take your maney and you will never see the dog. There probably isn't a dog. Start out by emailing them and Asking a lot of questions. Most of them will probably not even reply if you ask a lot of questions. There is one thread on here where the YTer is emailing them just to get their response. I will try to find it and post the link for you. |
Wow really?! thanks very much for you replies...it really helps me think things over! |
Here is the link to that thread I told you about. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42801 |

Too many people fall for it and it's really a shame. Just look for a reasonably priced dog - you don't need to try to find a 'deal' like that - too many of them are totally bogus. Those scammers rely on the fact that you Want a puppy really bad - and the shipping they SAY they need ...is just enough to make it worth their time scamming you - Add up all the people taken for $300.00 each and it can easily turn into the thousands in just a day or 2. The references to God and being Christian is just a hook - to make you think they would never rip you off and many people fall for this. Emails are full of this kind of scam ...Puppies just happen to be an easy target now because our Hearts are in our search. Please search this site for Help finding a puppy and ask people here if you need help - but be careful of those free For Sale Sites....I swear - most of the Ads these days ARE scammers - they're taking over the net. |
Please realize these are scams |
Scam!!! We have discussed this before many times on her - before you joined, so we all know about this scam. If it sounds too good to be true - it is! You can't usually get anything for free these days - unless it is something that you don't want. LOL T. |

Patti By the way welcome to YT so many many wonderful people here. |
It is a scam!!!! It is a shame people do this. I almost fell victim to it once, I thought like you that since they were christians and all that they were telling the truth. So I just trusted my instinct and didn't go with them, which I am glad I didn't, I would have only been scammed and very upset. Here are some replies that I got back a long time ago from people who were scammers. These are all different people, yet have the same line or story. :thumbdown If you want a yorkie pup, take the time and get one from a breeder here at YT, it will be worth it!!!  Peter Dreg Hello, compliment of the season,My Puppies babies have been all adopted by one mrs laura from los angles california, hopefully i will be having a new litter by may to june next year, but i can refer you to one of my customer called pastor yusuf oalekan afis that just got posted to west africa by his church mission here in united state(catholic church of christ, new jersey chapter)he asked me to put two adorable yorkie babies he got from me before he was posted for adoption, the baby yorkie puppies are both 3 months old and are akc and ckc registered also thier worming records and health insurance are avalable, send an email immediately to him, concerning adopting the puppies, tell him the breeder he asked to put the puppies out for adoption refered you to him, already the lovely babies are already with him, l am sure you would be lucky to have this pups in your home, and if you have any question, I will be glad to provide you with answers. send to pastor yusuf olalekan afis and his email address is:-YUSUFLEKAN_AFIS@YAHOO.COM. remember to contact me as soon as you get the puppies Thanks Erica Brooklyns Hello, i am very sorry my yorkshire puppies are all sold out, hopefully we are going to have new litters by june, but if you want i can refer you to a friend who was working in chevron company in west conroe and was posted to west africa nigeria by her company ,she just got posted to the branch company in west africa, nigeria. she got 2 female and 1 male yorkie puppies from me,she is giving out this adorable babies out for adoption due high price and scarcity of the their feeding and not well equiped vets, she is asking for a home or a family that can provide these yorkies with all love and care they deserve,if you know you can take care of these babies, she is mrs agu williams send an email immediately to aguwilliam@yahoo.com she is asking for $200 for the cost of adopting each of the yorkie babies, tell her the breeder she asked to put the babies for adoption refered you to her. dont fail to contact me when the puppies arrive. Best of luck Dennis Burns - Africa Gooday, Thanks for your interest in my babies, I have actually been looking for a caring parent to adopt my babies. I have prayed fervently about it and I believe the lord has answered my prayer. I believe you are a God fearing person. It is never my intention to get my babies adopted out but my primary assignment with the almighty Lord had exempted me from giving my babies the needed care they deserve. Neither me nor my babies feel comfortable with this development. Also, the weather here is so harsh that they hardly come outside with me to play whenever I`m around. I travels alot on missionary work within the african region. As you can see, I am always busy. So i needed a caring parent that will adopt my babies back to the state where they will enjoy eternal bliss and happiness.Andy is a male while Baby girl is female My babies are AKC registered, they are 2months and 10 days currently, recently dewormed and had had all their shot up to date. Very friendly and lovely creature, you will get to like them more than you would have anticipated when they get to you. I love them so much. I will always remember them in prayer when they get to your good home.I will be asking for $800 for the two of them with their shipping charge included. Please., do not let me regret ever letting my babies out for adoption to you. Take a very good care of them. I have attached their pictures for you to peruse them And also if you are online you can let us chat on the yahoo messanger so let know soon. God bless you.{Amen} Bizzy - West Africa Hello, compliment of the season,My yorkshire terrier babies have been all adopted by one mrs jennifer sunter from los angles california, hopefully i will be having a new litter by march or april next year, but i can refer you to one of my customer that just got posted to west africa by her company here in united state(chevron)she asked me to put two adorable yorkie babies she got from me before she was posted for adoption, the baby yorkie puppies are both 3 months old and are akc registered, send her an email immediately to her concerning adopting the puppies, tell her the breeder she asked to put the puppies out for adoption refered you to her, already the lovely babies are already with her, send to Mrs Salas Ras and her email address is: rasa101_s@yahoo.com remember to contact me as soon as you get the puppies Thanks |
I'm just glad you asked us all here first. |
Thanks very much Patti!!! I'm really learning a lot from YT!!! I'm so glad I found this forum! Thanks you guys and I sure do will update you if we've found our baby!!!!:D |
MyTrixie143, we've got almost the same story. But you know what, the other one said to me that if I'm not sure that I could take care of his baby, I shouldn't consider replying back to him coz he's finding the right parents for his baby. And the other one says things like "promise me to take very good care of my baby and make sure to send me pictures and updates about my baby" I can't believe I almost fall for it! sshheesshh!! Am I that naive??? |
Thanks JeanieK! That was a long thread, but very very helpful for the likes of me.....Thanks very much! |
Guys, last one...I think I made a stupid mistake again!!! Being so trusting, I gave them my info, meaning my address and phone #! Can they do anything about it? Or does it or doesn't it matter?? gggrrrr....I'm starting to hate myself now! |
I am so glad you came here first. There was a thread just recently about someone who fell for the scam and paid the money and got no puppy. It is really sad that they do this and they should be stopped!!!:( I am not sure what you can do if you give out info. Some of the scammers will leave you alone once you say you are not intrested. On the other hand, others will call and harass you and give you a hard time. I don't really know what to tell you to do. Oh and I am not sure if you know this, but I will tell you anyway. If you ever do decide to buy a puppy over the interenet, use www.puppyescrow.com. It is used all over the U.S and many other countries. This way you know you won't get scammed and you will get a puppy and the puppy you agreed on. It is the best way to go and it is really safe and easy to use. If they live in the US then they have no excuse not to use this. Western union or money gram has no guarantee you will get a puppy but this guarantees you will. Just something to keep in mind if you ever do decide to buy a puppy over the internet!!!  |
Thanks! That's a big help...but I really hope I would not need to buy from the internet, you know I think I developed some kind of phobia because of those scammers! LOL!!!! |

if it sounds too good to be true then more than likely it is. please be careful gettin a free yorkie or any breed pup from anyone. you get what you pay for. why would anyone who believes in their lines and can garuntee health give a puppy away?? just a thought. most breeders dont even break even when they SELL their puppies. i just dont see how any one would just give a puppy away without at least doing a home check and vet check and all that. |
If you gave your name and address maybe you should put a fraud alert on your credit report in all 3 bureaus....you never know what they can do with just your name and address.... I was one of the people playing the scam the scammers--they got soooooo persistent and they figured out I was using two email addresses trying to fool them. I got scared and quit. Im the one that had "balldraggin" the teacup jackass on the post named "scam the scammers". I do recall on a "scam" post that they get credit cards in Americans names and use those to pay for their ads online. Anyway-nobody would have to advertise a "cheap or even free" yorkie....they'd be gone in a second!!! Then that makes you wonder-why would they be breeding them again next summer or whenever if they had a hard time finding homes in the first place and had to just give them away? If you cant find any locally-just wait.....some will come along eventually, just do your homework-I promise it will be worth the wait. Good luck in your search and be sure to post pics when you do find your new fur friend. |
I agree with everyone on here, there are several ads even in newspapers and online with these scammers, the usually offer free to christian home and or really cheap yorkies, english bulldogs, french bulldogs, chihuahuas, and several expensive breeds of dogs, these ads NEVER put a phone number to be reached at this is a great way of telling the breeders from the scammers. |
Thanks so much to everybody! I learned my lesson! And the one who's in Nigeria, after I told him that my officemat gave me her Yorkie because she's moving out to Texas, he didn't bother me anymore :) I will post updates if we got a new baby....hopefully soon!!!! |
It's sad to say, but yes they DO use GOD's name for a scam like this. But I'm glad you found us first & were able to get good information before you sent them money or anything. Too often it happens the other way around. |
