I am not sure if this one is safe but you can ask the Vet about a product called seven dust for the yard. While pregnant you can keep her inside and use potty pads, of if you have a porch, patio. setup a potty area for her there. Vets all look at thing differently..I tend to listen to what long time breeders say over a Vet when it comes to breeding issues. Some Vets will tell you it's OK to give LEPTO to yorkie...and its not. |
You know, each vet gives different recommendations, just like each human dr. gives different recommendations. For my last 2 pregnancies I had to go to a specialist and my regular OB. My regular OB would not recommend any medications what so ever during pregnancy. My specialist would tell me that certain ones are ok. For humans, each medication has a certain "risk level". You can use them, but there are certain risks involved. I'm sure it is the same for animals. |
i just got back from the vet and he put frontline on her...and told me she is about 4 weeks and on the 4th she will go for an xray to confirm everything |

Your vet did the same thing mine would have. Using a flea comb wouldn't have been enough, I had tried that when one vet (an advantage seller who did not sell frontline) told me to use a flea comb. She told me advantage could not be used on pregnant animals. Flea combes get some of the fleas out but it doesn't kill them all. I think the risks with fleas and the possible tapeworms from them are worse than risks with Frontline (if any). Anyways, I think your dog will be much happier being flea free. I can't wait to see pics of the new puppies when they're born. I hope everything goes smoothly. |
