The reason everyone is so passionate about the particular topic you posted about has to do with many questions and experiences that have been shared on this forum. There are many Yorkie owners that did not know about the breed before paying a lot of money on their pups and had awful experiences with breeders that breed just for money. Puppies have gone to their new homes sick, some of them did not survive. That is heartbreaking to hear every time. Also, some pups that have been sold as Yorkies are sometimes not Yorkies at all.
I know many people here are sick of breeders that are in it for the money that advertise "teacup" Yorkies, which is something that does not exist. As Yorkie lovers, we all want Yorkies to be healthy animals that are as close to the standard as possible. Furthermore, usually breeders that are in it for the money are not concerned about what happens to the pups that are sold. Many people here believe that the pups that are sold are the breeder's responsibility. Would you sell the pup to a family that you know are not going to take proper care of the pup? What if an irresponsible person buys a pup to breed its "furry little head off"? There are many questions that you should answer for yourself (not here of course) before you decide to start breeding.
Anyway, I think I've said enough. Sorry you felt attacked but it is a very sensitive issue because our Yorkies are our babies. Please stick around because I am sure you will find so much valuable information here. Best wishes.

IF you'd bother to look or ASK her a question...That girl is obviously afraid that your friend Nancy is Nancy Hoenig. She is the breeder of her dog that she is supposed to get a female from from Ohio. They might have been friends and she could be fearing the worst.

Maybe you shouldn't skip to conclusions so fast, and point out what you infer is bad. The world isn't exactly against you. You should also understand that most people don't type on here to be malicious but since you can't hear the nonverbal communication (facial expressions, voice tone, etc) on here you shouldn't assume the worst all the time. And the conversation was going my way with the very few who actually answered my original question. Eveyone else has totally switched things up to make me out to be some money grubbing puppy hater. There is one question that was never anwered and that was the one that I asked about what people do with the money they make off of their puppys. Do you burn it? It's funny how I've been able to answer questions thrown at me yet not one person can answer that one simple question. I've been bashed for wanting to make a small profit (much later. they are still babies themselves!) but I would really like to know what these "breeders" do with their money they make. Surely they don't buy anything for themselves do they. (sarcasm intended)

Can I ask some of you...was your character and financial status an issue by other members on here when you first joined? I'm just wondering if this is the norm?

You poor soul, you opened up a Pandoras Box and didn't even know it.

My first post on here, was that I was considering getting into breeding, I didn't even have the dogs yet, and I got the same warm welcome.

Seriously though, I weathered the storm, and hung around and got to know everyone and they really are a nice bunch. Just a little passionate about the subject of breeding for profit.

That being said I'd like to welcome you to YT, and seeing as you know nothing about Yorkies, by your own admission, I suggest that you hang around and give us another chance.

Yorkies are not just another dog. They require a lot more care and pampering than a lot of breeds. This place is loaded with information and there are some very knowledgable people here.

I want you to have some place to come to incase you encounter a problem.

As for the shed, maybe you should look for another way to earn the money, it will be years, if ever, before you get enough profit to pay for a shed.

There are vet bills, supplies and medicine to be bought and I'm sure credit cards are a breeders best friend to cover that stuff until the puppies are sold to only pay that off to start again later in the year. From what I've heard it's a lot of time and dedication and loads of money. So the answer to your question, I think they use the money they make off of their puppies to replenish their accounts or credit card debts.
By the way, no one MADE anyone out to be a puppy hater but I'm sure you can see how the following sentence can send the wrong message: "Now in order to get the building I need to know how the price of each puppy so I can figure how many litters she'll have to have...I only need enough puppies to get my building and I figure since they are AKC registered they should bring in some money."

Which you most likely know because you said you have other animals and have a vet two farms away. I know I too will probably get attacked for saying that, but thats okay.

I say a well bred, HEALTHY yorkie puppy will sell for about $1,300. What state are you located in? I'm in California and thats the going rate here.
