Gracie's Maternity Ward
 
(we hope!)

She's not quite 2 weeks along, if she is even pregnant. So, I really don't know that she is showing any signs, other than being very "attached" to me. A little more so that normal. Maybe that is just my wishful thinking, though.

I'm still in the 90's technilogically, so I can't post any pics. DARN! She's so pretty. She's our "little princess". Angel is our "little teddy bear". Who knows? If Angel goes into heat soon, I will have 2 "maternity ward" threads going. OMG!! How confusing!!

Most likely she is pregnant. You should start seeing her teats darken in the next two weeks. Congratulations and thanks for posting and keeping us all up to date.

Gracie is very slender (lean), so I think I will notice soon enough if her belly is getting the slightest bit bigger.

Angel, however, is stout, kinda "fluffy" if you will. Not fat. But she won't be as easy to see as Gracie.

I'm keeing my fingers crossed.

Someone posted once that they may lose their appetite about 2 weeks after breeding. It will be two weeks on Wednesday, since her first tie, but she actually has been eating MORE this past week.

I know, they are all different.

I check her belly every day. I swear it's bigger today than yesterday. . . :rolleyes: Yah, right!!

Without a digital camera or a scanner, I don't think I can. I wish I could. She is so beautiful. I'm a little biased, though. :D

If you take pics. on a reg. camera, even a disposable, when they are developed, have them put it on a CD for you, Walgreens and CVS does this, then you can upload them and post their pics:D You can even take the negatives of pics you have already developed and have them put on a CD.

i have another question....do you use flea medicine on her while she is pregnant. my neighbors dog is pregnant and she isnt sure if she can use it. her vet said read the label and the label said consult a vet.....

We used Frontline plus. Its approved for preg.and nursing.

WOW!! I didn't know that!!! Cool! I wonder if WalMart does that. . . ?

By the way, I checked Gracie's belly this morning. Can't tell if she's any bigger than last night at 11:30pm.

Well, I really don't see much of a change in Gracie's belly. She is exactly 3 weeks today, and the only thing I notice is she doesn't eat much, and she is very clingy to me.

She is very thin, normally, so I would think she would be "showing" by now. Her belly may be a tiny bit "poochy" but nothing really noticable.

So, are there any experienced breeders out there that have had a bred bitch not show ANY signs, physically, by 3 weeks?

I'm so anxious to know if she's pg, I can't hardly STAND IT!!

3 weeks is a little too early to know if she is pregnant . My Kellie didn't showed signs of pregnancy before the last week .

Can you see any change in her tummy at all? As of the last 2 days, (I've looked every 3 hours lol), Dori's tummy is in no way huge or tight, but there is a change. We always stand her on her hind legs, she likes to stand like this anyway and turns circles. So, we noticed her tummy had a "bump" the diameter of a baseball and stands out about 1". No huge deal, but she is always very concave in this area:)

3 weeks is still a little early, give it 2 more weeks and then you should be able to tell. Any darkening or enlarging of the nipples yet?

It depends what you want to have done. Here is a link that tells when a vet can palpitate the abdomen to tell whether she is pregnant (not much use in my opinion); when an ultrasound can be done; and when an x-ray can be done. The late stage x-ray is the best in my opinion because you can usually get an accurate count so you know when the whelping is finished and usually gives an idea if a C-section will be necessary.

i figured they would have to go to the vet soon so that he can advise what they should eat....what they can and can't do...just basic prenatal care. i have never had puppies so i have no clue.

Her teets do seem a tiny bit larger, but they all are pink with brownish/black tips. Weird, cuz every time you scratch her belly, your immediate thought is "She's got ticks!!" But it's just her teets!! They have ALWAYS been that way.

Anyway, I'll be patient. I'll quit checking her every single day. Maybe I'd notice changes more if I waited a week to look!

Thanks for the suggestion! I did that with Grace, and there is definitely a pudge there! She also has always been concave in this area.
