gold yorkie Just wondering, If I wanted a pup that will be all gold or tan with no black or blue would the pup still be born with the standard black and tan coloring then lose that color later and go to the all gold? Can you tell such a thing looking at 8-12 week old pup? Thanks. |
From what I've seen & heard, no, you cannot tell. Maybe if you check a couple of generations back and see pics of the grand parents on both sides, or even great-grands, maybe that would be more promising. |
1 Attachment(s) If you are looking for one that has no black or light silver than you will be able to tell as a puppy. These puppies have a genetic fault (no health related issues that I am aware of) that they lack the pigment so they are born gold. |
Here's a listing - they are usually called blonde Yorkies. Be very, very careful in dealing with those that advertise on these online places. http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory...cb0e-a091.aspx If you push to see all ads by this owner, it shows 3 pups all very different looking. I bet this is a mix probably chi or pom. |
Thanks for the replies. That picture from Lacy's Mom is what I was thinking about. That picture on Nextday Pets looks like a pom to me also. |
blondie Hi there! If you look at www.rhondasnewyorkies.com - at her pups available page, she shows her dog Poohbear - what she looks like now (all golden blonde) and what she looked like as a pup. She did have black. |
