advice please :animal36 :animal-pa my yorkie had her first litter in feb this year she had them smoothly only complication was we had 1 still born and lost one to fading puppy syndrome other than that she coped really well, she had a season in april when the puppies left us and she is having a season now(june)on reading lots of info and talking to breeders having a season so soon after the pups and having one now is normal she has had a sucsessfull tie with our male yorkie today so looks like we will have another litter, as she is fit and well, i was thinking of letting her have this litter then a rest of 2 seasons or we might spay her depending on how she is with this secound litter anyone who has knowledge on breeding id like your input on what you think is the best and safest for mum thanks for reading look forward to any replys:animal36 :animal-pa |
I have no advice, just wanted to welcome you to YT, and congratulate you on your upcoming litter. |
My mentor breeds 2 seasons, then rests a season. She has rested 2 seasons in a row before, but typically she only skips one. I've heard people who breed every other season, giving the mom more of a break. I think either way is acceptable, and could just depend on the bitch and her health. . . etc. . . |
hi!! :) :animal36 :animal-pa thankyou :animal-pa :animal36 :) |
thanks thanks for your reply, that does sound like the best way i just want what is best for her this board is soo helpfull!!!!:) |
Welcome Welcome to the board. I just bred my first bitch yesterday. I plan on breeding two seasons then resting one or I might rest two depending on the bitch. looks like we will both be having babies about the same time. My litter is due August 26th. The bitch I bred yesterday has a history of only having two babies each litter. I'm kind of glad since I am new to breeding, altho I have researched for well over a year. |
hi hi looks like we will be having pups at the same time! we had our first litter in feb she had 5 pups was a great experience exciting but also scary! once the pups got to 1 week old it seemed to get less scary and then by the time they got to 3 weeks it was smooth sailing from there i loved having them and it was heart breaking letting them go i hope this time will be less daunting as ive been through it once already...but i know each time is unique,i think im going to do what you said you are going to do with your bitch 2 on and 1 or 2 off seems to be the same view of everyone its good to hear other peoples views and opions really does help alot thanks for your reply...good luck to you and your forthcoming litter:animal36 |
