Why not search for a breeder in your area? There are members on YT that live far closer, try Sylvanyorkies.com her member name here is Sylvan. |

Other than that, my only other suggestion is to have someone from YT that lives in the area to go check the breeder out and the pup. I would, but I don't live anywhere near there. The people are great here at YT and I am sure you can find someone to go check her out for you!!! |
Personally I would never ever buy a Yorkie (or any living being for that matter) from an unknown across the country. Our YT family contains many reputable breeders that are scatterred throughout the country. Some of our breeders are show breeders, some are not. Generally one or more have litters and if they don't have pups, they usually know someone who does. If I were looking for a specific bloodline, then I would make every effort to travel to look at the pups in person. |
i just want a healthy cute yorkie i could care less about show or beeding quality im not a shower or breeder just need a yorkie friend |
re: do you have to meet the breeder i would say yes..I have been looking for a yorkie for months. I've lost money looking online.."deposts" I was ready to do it again on a site that looked ok to me, come to find out they are a puppy mill in lancaster county, in Pa. i did a search on yorkies and puppy mills info came up, so i read it, well one of the places was in ronks pa wow i was ready to deal with them...would have been another big mistake ! now I found another kennel 40 minutes from me, which I am going Saturday to check it out, This one looks good too. i wont deal with a puppy mill, they treat the dogs/puppies really bad..you have to be careful when you dont see in person who your buying from and if the puppies and puppy parents are taken care of or just existing to breed. i hope to soon find my little bundle of joy..... good luck in finding yours :) Jeannie in Pa:) |
Hi Jeannie, holler if I can help in any way. welcome to yt! |
Hi Sylvan thank you, i will, i just hope saturdays visit to this kennel turns out to be a good one . i have my fingers crossed |

If you post her name or the kennel name or her website, someone might know something about her. I bought my Chachi without meeting the breeder, but I had a lot of people recommend her, so I felt comfortable with her. She has been in business for a long time, so she is well know in the Yorkie world. |
HI THE NAME IS AWE PUPPIES ITS CONFIRMED AND SHE IS HOLDING MY BABY FOR ME TILL SATURDAY WHEN I VISIT AND LEAVE A DEPOSIT THEN ILL PICK HER UP ON THE 6TH..IM SO EXCITED GO HERE TO SEE HER HER NAME IS SUGAR SHE IS 12 WEEKS :) SHE HAS ALOT OF WHITE WILL THAT GO AWAY AS SHE GETS OLDER? My biggest concern of this breeder is all the different breeds of dogs that she has and that she advertises the "designer pups". This sounds to me like it's a puppy mill.:( |
I wish you only the best on saturday but please be careful, this is clearly a puppy mill, it appears this breeder breeds several breeds as well as trendy designer mixes I call "flavor of the month".....dont buy on impulse! In the long run this can cost you thousands and not to mention heart ache! |
ok can someone explain to me exactly what a puppy mill is...i saw pictures of horrible conditions of the parent pups and puppies in lancaster county...if i go to see this kennel/puppy saturday and its a nice place/house whatever it is, is that still a puppy mill, if so they how in the world do i know if it is a puppy mill or good breeder or not..im confused help me  |

I wish you lots of love from a pup what ever you choose, but this site is not really a breeder but a Pet Shop. They get pups from "licensed" breeders. Most likely these pups are from commercial breeders or mills. You want to find a breeder that you can visit them at their home and see where the pups are raised and the parents of the pups. Not a place of business. |
You will not see a mill.....they almost never attempt to sell pups from the location where they are produced. This site looks like a brokerage...and admits on the home page to brokering pups for 'licensed breeders'. Reputable breeders sell their own pups, want to meet the owners and make sure their pups are going to good homes. Red flags for mill brokerage sites include....many breeds available, from 'licensed' breeders (licenses are only required for high volume breeders), 'special reduced' prices, 't-cup', no pictures of the parents anywhere, location- unfortunately, PA is one the worst states for puppy mills, along with MO and OK. These broker sites are getting better and better at marketing, going 'boutique', using celeb photos and mimicking reputable breeder policies. I see an interesting contradiction..." We also know each and every puppy's distinct personality finding that some are a bit more snuggly while others may be more playful. This helps us place them with their perfect "forever family". " but.... "All of our puppies are first-come, first-serve". Prices are very cheap for 'purebred' yorks but high for 'designer mix' pups. It would not be possible to sell pups at that price and break even, unless they are doing very high volume...if you google awepuppies you will get more than 2,000 hits....they are advertising everywhere. |
Holy Cow - just looked at the awepuppies website - there is NO freakin way they know any 'personalities' - too many dogs for them to get to know each one - they probably spend all their time in a kennel/cage till sold. They had little names for dogs that I've never seen before. that site screams broker. May I ask what this means ? Quote:

I never did find Sugar's photo? Can you give more instructions, please: LOL I hate to be so dense. How did you find out about these people? I was just wondering if they are a broker, could they be getting the puppies from the breeder on Ronks Rd.? I went there last week but was not allowed to go in the barn where they are kept. On a side note, is there not some way that the breeders on YT could list their names, websites and/or a little history on themselves & their dogs somewhere on YT? It would be nice for us to know. Thanks,:) |
Hi, Info and pics on puppy mills is located in my F.A.Q. page on my website - http://www.ferragame.com/puppymill.htm. I'm near Reading PA which is only about 30-40 miles from Lacaster a.k.a. puppy mill central. My wife is also a vet tech so she sees the results of these so called "breeders" every day. Very very sad. My last puppy just went to her new home on Sunday (I'll be updating my website in the next day or two with a wonderful email I received from the new owners). I work with a wonderful group of breeders and can recommend others, such as Sylvan's, in addition to my co-breeders. If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise I wish you all the best in finding your new baby. |
