So the thought of owning your own stud sounds like fun? Sooo, you have a little male. You are thinking that you would like to breed him with your female, right? Everything will be great and no problems. Just think about it first! Once your male is bred he becomes a pee machine. He will love to mark everything (most males will do so both inside and out)! For around two weeks, if around a female, he also becomes a humping machine. Please click the following to see how it's like for us a few weeks approx every 6 months. http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...9&ctime=143657 Do you think you can handle it? Also, please note, that this female was never bred (they have protection on LOL) and you still have to go through it all! You can NEVER EVER let them out of our site..even for a moment! Now I'm not saying it's not for anyone...we breed our yorkies...but just think about your sweet little guy and what he can become! :) |
BOy yorkies make great pets! As long as they are neutered! My stud dogs truthfully have absolutely no manners at all with hiking. If allowed to run inside the house with our family, we have yellow base boards, yellow corners of chairs, yellow toys!............yuck! So play time for them is outside! Pee to your hearts content boys! I love them but studs in general are definitely not good housepets. I bet there are some people out there who have spent tons of time with their studs though and they have the manners of a king.....but that certainly is the exception. Hats off to those handlers! |
ahhha xrated doggie movie l,mao. maybe that's what my sisinlaw meant about me getting a male yorkie ,he would drive me crazy when my princess came into season?! do they do that like all day ? wow at the energy lmao! |
hahahaha - THIS should be a sticky and with a RATED X Warning ! :D :D :D That was so funny - I know it isn't funny when it happens and you don't want it too - but YES - I've heard Studs do NOT make the best housedogs - and people should be VERY aware of what to expect. and LOL on the Yellow Toys - wow:) |
talking bout me? i don't know if this post is directed at me or not since i did post about owning two studs just a few days ago. Just a FYI, I do not just have a pretty little female and want to breed her to my stud. i have researched for well over a year and have been buying dogs trying to get them as close to the standard as I can to have a breeding program. i don't intend to just throw them down in the floor and let them mate. I will have a good program once i get started. I already have my little stud muffin but i didn't want to breed him to this particular dog right now as i want to keep one of her bitches to breed to him later because of her excellent bloodlines. My older female is fixing to come into heat and It will be my first breeding but I am ready. (until she goes into labor of course, LOL). I only asked the question about owning two studs because I had a chance to obtain another one, which I have since turned down because he has floppy ears. I prefer erect ears . You did, however, raise some valid points that everyone needs to know. |
Hi Sugars mom I was just replying to the thread on stud yorkies. My post in no way was directed to you. I was just replying to the thread. I live with two peeing machines and I thought the post was funny and very true. |

There is also the whining, crying, barking, howling a male will do when you have to seperate a him from a bitch in heat....which is no fun....:( |
Great post!!!  However, I do believe if you work with your stud you can eliminate some of the problems, I have seen many who had studs that after alot of training were great house pets. I will have two studs soon, although it will be a year or longer before they are bred and I am confident I can handle them. The marking thing does not worry me, any male dog that lives in the house must wear a bellyband at all times!! They also know that humping is not allowed unless said otherwise and will stop once they are told, they know the rules and obey them well. The hardest thing though, would be that a male stud once bred tends to have only one thing one his mind... |
Just a note....Belly bands and panties will NOT, repeat NOT prevent an 'accidental' mating. They can wriggle out of those things and will. X-pens and gates are not foolproof either. A dog that has never climbed anything before will suddenly learn the fine art of scaling a wall to get where he/she wants to go. Crates..separate rooms with closed doors( and be sure to monitor the opening and closing of that door, the little buggers are FAST) are the only foolproof methods. |

About the peeing machines, I know about that, too. Ceeby is bad with the leg lifting but now that it is warm, he pottys outside usually. Just something about those couch corners he loves. |

LOLOL!! That was such a cute video clip! My Maltese is neutered but sometimes he humps my Tia (who is spayed). He's so silly. :) Sometimes he even humps my feet! LOL! |

This has been very informative, but I have a question. What are they like if you neuter them after you mate them? Do they settle down or do you still have a sex-crazed dog? |
