This thread is popping up from 2006....but I think it's as relevant then as today, sadly. I think Dane was shut down, or elected to shut down - but I believe the business of breeding very sickly puppies, which is my opinion of his entire program - was merely passed on to some of his family members. In my opinion, he epitomizes some of the worst of the dog "industry" out there... He may not own what some of us understand as a "Mill" in terms of size, but in terms of what he communicates to the customer/buyer about "his product", the mentality is pretty much in the same category, in my opinion. |
I was just on his website and he does not appear to be shut down. I see lots of puppies being advertised at xmas special prices. He still has some so-called 'rescues' as well. I was under the impression he was no longer to be in business when he sold off his last batch of rescues yet I see new ones posted, and new pups as well... This site makes me sick. Those poor animals. :( The sister site is still active as well. (Edited to remove the name of the sister site as the post created an auto hyperlink to it and I did not want to advertise their site) |
1 Attachment(s) Wow...I guess I am one of the fortunate ones that did not have issues with my puppy. My boyfriend had surprised me with her, he bought her from Steve Dane...I did not chose the breeder, but I actually have no issues and have a beautiful lil' girl. Steve was really nice on the phone when I had questions about her when we received her, but I haven't dealt with him since then since nothing medically came up. Here's a pic of my lil' furbutt... |
If this guy is shut down he seems to a lot of dogs for sale on his website, so I think not. Mixed breeds, $1250 ???????, lot of money for a mutt. And registered teacups, $5500????????? I knew that dogs could be registered, but registering my teacups ?????, what registry, I wonder. I have several teacups that are cracked, stained or broken, perhaps if they are registered with the teacup registry, I can sell them for 5 grand.:D |
He's not exactly shut down. He was living in a million dollar mansion in Sherman Texas but now his daughter has taken over the site and they are selling them in BELLS. You will always see the site, he just won't have as many dogs. He was pretty much auctioning them off. His place in Sherman was sold to a horse breeder. I know this thread was old but i felt that it was important for people to know. I did NOT get Laynee from him but i have delt with him before when i had friends wanting rescues and i think it's a shame people actually give him money. especially with him breeding way out of standard. I mean, he has tiny tiny tiny full grown yorkies half the size of my foot at 3 years old. so when you say teacup.....ha. his are smaller and guess what....he SELLS THEM FOR $10,000. And i'm dead serious and they are sold with full registration and no s/n contract. Sorry if i bugged anyone with this thread but he "erks" me the wrong way |
My Yorkie fro Jeff Dane I purchased a Yorkie from Jeff Dane 8 yrs ago. We love her more than anything, however we wanted to reserve a pup on his page and he asked to reconsider on the pup he was telling us about. Come to find out it wasn't his pup but another breeder. I will tell u we paid a lot $2200.00 plus air. We got her and she was suppose to 4 mths. old and she weighed .75 lbs we had to force feed her etch. But Jeff walked us through all of it. Our dog also has a back curvature and does not look like a pup with a pedigree. She has a fab. personality and better than the pup I bought from another reputable breeder (who is now 13 yrs. old). I had my dogs spayed, cuz believed they were two small to breed. At this point the one we bought from Jeff iweighs 2 1/2 lbs and just fab, when we talked to him on the phone he just told us what this pup was doing and it always was rolling on her back to be petted, she is going on 9 and that is still how she is. Also forgot to call Jeff after we picked her up at the airport and he called us to make sure she got there safe. When we had a few problems with her in the beginning he was always there of what do to. His info was better than the vets and we have a wonderful dog |
