How long do puppies nurse? Our puppies are 6.5 weeks old and momma still lets them nurse for a minute or two several times a day. They are all eating puppy food now and are getting their teeth. Will momma dog make them stop or do we need to intervene? Thanks. Kim |
nothing wrong with them slipping in once in a while, moms will stop when they want to. Puppies will always try even if there isnt milk, I call those drive by's lol mom will stand for a minute until she feels those sharp little teeth. |
HA ha! Drive bys.....that is cute! Many times our puppies have nursed pretty regular almost till 8 weeks! They are either porkers or tiny zoomers by that time. ............or they can be Cassie mommy puppies and be nursed until they are 21! Just teasing but she is the mom of all moms. She loves her pups and just nurtures the devil out of them. Never seen such a patient loving girl. I think its great your puppies have such a great mommy to give them an extra boost. Nothing to worry about! |
The longer the better. |
