Indiana Breeder My yorkie recently passed away and I have been searching for another. I found a breeder here in Indiana. Has anyone ever heard of Halfpint Yorkies???? I visited her house. Her litters are due in about a week. I am nervous and anxious and I thought if any of you had heard of her, it would be a good thing. |
I havent heard of her. Where is she locateed? |
She is in Cloverdale. Her website is : Halfpintyorkies.com Her name is Julie Hoffa. She seemed lovely. Her dogs were healthy looking and living in the house, which was clean and beautiful, out in the country. She has been breeding yorkies 15 years I believe. Before that she was breeding German Shepherds. I have reserved a puppy by paying money down. Two litters are due next week and one May 29. I am just nervous. If people HAVEN"T heard of a certain breeder is that GOOD news? |
I dont know if it is good or bad. Since she is in Indiana she must be just unknown. Maybe one of the other Indiana members have heard of her. Good luck with the new puppy. I know it is an exciting time. |
Hello, I got my Joey from Julie Hoffa of Halfpint Yorkies. Joey is small 3 lbs 14 ozs. I got him at 8 weeks old. He will be 2 in July. He should have stayed longer with her, but at the time I didn't know. We had him one week and he developed Coccidia, with the Coccidia came hypoglycemia. He was one sick puppy for quite awhile. She did tell me that none of her Yorkies ever had the coccidia but her Shepards did. If you've been to Julie's you know where she keeps her shepards. That fence (kennel) is connected to the house (garage). The garage houses all her Yorkies. I think she keeps a couple in the house, nursing mothers and such, but others are out in that converted garage type room. Ask to see it. I liked Julie a lot, and she was nice enough to give me some of my money back, because the coccidia came from her place and the vet bills were horrid. She said she wanted pictures as he grew and as an adult, but has not returned any of my e-mails like she did at first. I also asked her if she had had any chocolates born, because Joey and Emilee had a litter of 5 with one chocolate. She never answered me. From what I understand both parents have to have this recessive gene for that to happen. So you'll have to form your own opinion, hope this helps. |
uh oh |
I'm sorry I have never heard of her either, but if I were you, I would ask for a reference list of any previous owner that bought a yorkie from her. When buying a pet, ask the breeder lots and lots of questions. Did the yorkie mom and dad both look healthy, were there coats nice and thick? Good luck! |
Guess what, she won't return my emails! DUH! My husband will be calling her tonight for a return of my deposit. I will keep ya'll posted. |
Oh no I am sorry to hear that. I hope you get your deposit back. If you need a couple of names of Indiana breeders I can give you some just let me know. |
Well, I am talking to a gal in Muncie about getting one of her beautiful babies. Littlebitsmom. |
One of the breeders I know is also a member on here and has puppies now. I havent purchased form her before but it is where I am going to get my next yorkies. Her pups are going to be small 4 lbs or less. |
