What do U sell U're babies for? Here I am again asking questions...LOL But I trust all of U to help me and I want to do what is right for ALL my babies! So here it goes again!! If we keep our babies until they are 12 to 16 weeks...Then how much would we sell them for? We gave $550.00 for Tiffy...Her mom we was told was a very high doller Yorkee??? And her owner sold her to us cheeper cause she wanted her to go to a good home. Teddy we gave $450.00 for him...So I have NO idea what to sell these babies for. Any thoughts here? I'm still working on the photos for U all!!! Hugs Lee |
You should look in your area for a starting price. Pricing all depends on the quality of yorkie, pedigree...etc. Gracie was a $1200 dollar dog and Rebel was $850. Going price of females at the time was $900 and males were $650. |
LOL and now all the puppies i keep looking at to purchase are all $1500 and up. why can't i find a quality bred puppy for $1000?? hahaha |
Health is also VERY important! Have the pups had a check for liver shunts? Knees? Trachea? Etc...all of that comes into play when pricing pups. |

That's cheap!! I live in Toronto, Ont Canada. Yorkies here are one of the most expensive dogs you can buy... if you were to decide to get a puppy from the best store they cost $2999.99 i'm very serious... and if you were to get them from a breeder they are asking no less then $1200, if your lucky you can find some for $1000. I got my baby Rylie from a friend that had a family pet Yorkie and she had puppies.. my Rylie set me back $800 CDn..(Well worth every penny):aimeeyork I dont really know how much you should sell your furbabies for, but i just wanted to let you know how much they go for here. |
my area the yorkies go for 1200.00 if you find one lower priced, you need to question it. so like the post previous, if they are good quality w/no defects, look in your area |
All yorkies are different so all prices are also different and location definitely make a difference. Assuming these are just pet quality, if they are going to be over the standard (4 -7) in weight or even at the high end of the standard they usually go for less, if one parent or both do not have a silk coat they usually go for less, overbites or underbites bring less, long noses over short noses, bring less, etc. |
The going price for AKC puppies in my area is $800-$900 |
pricing pups call some of the ads that are selling AKC yorkies and ask lots of questions, like what do they test for, what guarantees are they giving, what are they putting into their puppy kits to send home with the puppy? like others have said already, health, and quality has alot to do with pricing. In my area they go for $500.00-$2000.00 and more. The cheap one have no guarantee and you don't get a puppy kit, just reg. papers. |
In my area they start at $400. and go up to $900. witch usually includes akc reg papers, and a one year health guarentee. No puppy pkg. |
I went to a Yorkie meetup and witnessed many larger Yorkies (some 92 dogs in total). I spoke to many owners and most people were unaware of what the size and price differences were when the purchased the pups. Some people were not so happy when the pup grew to 7 or 8 lbs. |
The prices of puppies are mostly determined by the quality of their parents . |
i'm not a breeder, but i don't agree with pricing being determined by the anticipated adult size of a yorkie. imho, that's just a marketing scam... err.. marketing "trend". and would never buy from a breeder whose pricing reasoning is based on adult size. i think pricing should be based on the quality (closeness to standard), health, pedigree, and the breeder's adherence to "quality control", ie, tests a breeder run on the parents and the puppies to ensure best health and quality and medical care provided to the dam during pregancy. from the playgroups i take bunjee, i know very few true yorkie lovers who become dismayed at their puppy has grown to the high end of the standard such as 7 lbs or a little larger. unless of course, they paid a bundle for a yorkie that will stay small. and even then, the disappointment is not directed at the puppy, but at the breeder for false advertisement and unrealistic guarantees on the pup's adult size. with that being said, you'll find that pricing can vary a lot based on locale too. in my area, there are yorkies for sale as low as $500 to $5000, but the average is prolly around the $1000 to $2000 range for a typical pet quality yorkie puppy. i paid a little under $1k for my first puppy, who is totally non-standard (cotton coat, floppy ears, 8lbs, etc) and a little under $200 for my second puppy, who is closer to standard (silky coat, up ears, 5.5lbs, etc). as a buyer, if i pay more for a puppy i would expect more from the breeder, there should be documented tests on the parents for eyes, patella, etc., verifiable pedigree (especially if champion lines were claimed), a reasonable health guarantee, akc registration, references, quality of parents are verifiable, puppy's expected adherence to standards, etc. i think when pricing your puppies, you should take all of that into consideration. most people who are willing to spend only a small sales price may have lower expectations while most who are willing to spend top dollar will expect more of you and your puppies.
