When Do U're Babies Go To Their New Homes? Hello all, at what ages do U allow U're babies to go to their new homes? I know this will be here before I know it. I thought about keeping them until they are @ least 2 months old...That way I know they will be eating good on their own. Do U start potty training before they leave or let those new parents potty train? Just thought I'd ask. Hugs, Lee |
I'm not a breeder but from what I've learned on YT, it's best (and safest) to keep the pups until they are 12 weeks old. Of course, if there's a really tiny pup ... then maybe even longer then 12 weeks would be necessary. :) Good luck with your little ones! :) |

13 - 14 weeks old for pet quality 10 months old + for show prospect . I start potty training my puppies before they go to their new homes . It is a great help to new owners and they really appreciate it . |

My baby was 12 weeks old when I got him, but we really should have waited just a little longer. Our breeder was great, and let us take him, but if I had to do over again, I would have let her keep him for at least another month. He's only 4 pounds (full grown), so he was a tiny one at just 12 weeks. I guess it just depends on what you and your breeder feel most comfortable with doing. And, yes, pee pee pads worked well for us whie indoors, but we trained ours to go outside after they started to lift their legs. :) Good luck!! |
