A list for new parents??? hey there, it is getting to that point, (although we still have about 3 weeks) where the new families will be taking their babies to their forever homes. I have had many come by and look, and this week I will be taking deposits. I was waiting to do this until after first vet check and such. I want to give my new parents a list of items they should buy in the comming weeks to get ready for their new arrival and was hoping for ideas. Each baby will go home with , food, blanket, toys, food and water dish, washable bed, weewee pads, crate, bag of favorite treats (icecream), leash and harness, tube nutrical. What woud be good for them to get besides these things? I just want to be sure my babies will be happy in the long run. Also do you think it is to much for me to ask if they have a child(ren) that they bring them to my house so I can see how they interact with a puppy. I am not agianst children at all, but want to make sure both the parents and child know how delicate these guys are. Thanks for the info |

That is great that you supply all that! As far as the kids, I think that as long as you explain how fragile these little babies are it is up to them to do the rest. As a mother of 2 little kids I can tell you kids NEVER behave the same when they are in a new place - for better or worse, also parents ALWAYS hessitate to disiplane how they normally would without people around. There would be no point in making the child (ren) come to your house. EVERY child AND parent acts different when they are not at home. |
I have all the same things in my package for the new parents except I also put in some teethers for them, a sweater(of course at this time of the year they don't really need it), and a booklet on training their pup, (alot of new pet parents don't know how to properly train a puppy). As far as the kids, just make sure the parents and kids now how fragile a yorkie is, just jumping out of your arms can severly hurt a yorkie. Sounds like you want the best for your pups and your on the right track!! :thumbup: :thumbup: |
What a great package all I got when I collected my Rob was a smelly shoe that went straight in the bin as even he seemed to turn his nose up at it. |
Maybe you can type or print something off the internet to insert in the puppy package on the subject of puppy safety w/children. |
that is a great puppy package!!! I just got a blanket that was in with the mom so Starsky could smell his mommy. They gave me a little food for the drive home and all his shot records and forms to register him. That was all. Your puppy's are going out in style!! I Insist on ALL family members coming to visit so I can get to meet them and have refused to release pups to people with children I didn't appreciate. Your first responsibility is to the welfare of your pups and if people get offended. too bad. I e-mail a shopping list and a list of what's supplied by me (in advance of pick up) so they don't have to duplicate items I provide. |
