Question... I have a male and a female that are mating. She came into heat, and I have caught them in the "act" at least 3 times in the past two days. I know it is not good to have him continue to mate with her at different times in her heat because the pups can be conceived at different time, correct? Is now the time to separate them and just wait and see? I know people have said to mate them every other day for a week, but it is so difficult when they live together, and they are constantly crying to be together. How long do I need to keep them apart? I mate mine everyother day for 3 mates. Alot of breeders may do it differently. and yes they can concieve at seperate times. Make sure you write on the calendar their first mate to reference for the due date. My two males cry constantly while the females are in heat (and they sleep in our bedroom!!! :mad ) They will stop when she is coming out in the 3rd week. She will growl at him when he tries to mount. Good luck with the next couple weeks. |
