Give your own shots? If you give your own shots where do you get the vaccine record? Do you just type one up? |
My mom gives her chiwawa her shots and just peels the labels off of the bottles and sticks them to a paper and dates them. :) |

I do my own shots. The shots (can't think of the exact name) is made by the Fort Dodge company but these aren't labeled as Fort Dodge. Spoke to my vet about it and he said that it was one of the best ones out there. |

You can buy shot records from Dr's Foster & Smith. They are really cheap. I myself take mine to the vet. I know how to give shots but I like for the vet to check them over a few times before they leave me. YOu can get the vacs from your vet and give the shots yourself though if you want to. It may be higher than ordering elsewhere i'm not sure..its worth checking into.. |
i leave it to the vet. i'm afraid i'll make a mistake and harm an innocent pup. |
I just wanted to post this experience for you guys to ponder over. I recently purchased a puppy (not a yorkie, rather a cairn terrier) in the state of Kentucky (where I have lived all my life) and the breeder (of 40 yrs) had been giving her own shots to her pups under supervision of a veternarian even and when I took the puppy to my vet for her next set of shots, my vet did not recognize any of the shots that had been given as they had not been given by a licensed veternarian. I had to call the vet that oversaw the breeder of the puppy to get his okay to put his name on the original shots in order to not have my vet give the shots again! In the state of Kentucky, if a licensed veternarian didn't give the shot, they are not recognized as having been given. Therefore, if the veternarian that the breeder uses had said I couldnt' put his name on the first shots, then the puppy would have had to have ALL her shots over again, starting with the very first one. |
