First time breeder I have a 2 1/2 year old 7 pound female yorkie. She has never been breed and I am considering breeding her because some family members want puppies. I was wondering if anyone knew of the best place for me to get information on this. I have never breed a dog before so I want to get all the facts first. She doesn't bleed when coming in heat but the vet says she swells when coming in. What is the best way to predict when she will be in and how often? Thanks and any advice will be appriciated. breeding This is a tough one..have any idea when she was in season last?? You need a mentor close to help you out...contact some breeders with studs..now before she is in heat..check them out and pick an nice male/nice pedigree. Anyone who is professional and offers stud service should be willing to talk with you...and I am sure since you are planning ahead there are beeders here who will be adding advise. |
Estimated your yorkie should come in every 6 months. Give or take a month or two. All are different. Finding her heat when you dont know when her last one was will be harder to find so you will need to watch her closely. If you dont have a stud around some signs are swelling, she may clean herself more often at that time and if when petting her back near her backend she moves her tail back and forth like a clock pendalem she is probably in heat. I would think she would have a little bleeding you could take tiolet paper if you think she is in and wipe lightly back there if you see a tinge of bright red she is just comng in, darker more brown she is in more progressed heat. By the time she is in heat ready to be breed she should be very swollen back there. AN easy way to remember is 1 week coming in, 1 week ready to be bred, 1 week going out. |
hi there Hello! Im the mom of a stud and would love to breed him w/ your female if you're interested. I thought this would be perfect because he is also unproven. the only problem is that i live in california. oops. Please let me know if you are up to a little vacation or will be in the area anytime soon . Thank you! |
stud A male who has never been used for stud should ideally be bred to a proven bitch the first time and vise versa. |
Thank you for replying Thank you guys for replying to my message. My Shortie is starting to come in heat as of Monday. I have a proven male that is gonna stay with us for the next 3 weeks. There hasn't been any "action" between them yet but they are starting to play together and get youst to each other. He has been trying but she runs from him. So hopefully in the next week she will be all the way ready. Thanks again for the replys. Shelly P. And Shortie |
stud help i have a 3lb boy that is 2 and what do i need to do to find him a girl friend |
finding a female?? first take your little guy to a vet whose opinion and knowledge of yorkies you trust and ask him about breeding your male and get the tests done first to be sure he is ok for breeding, then start looking for your female, jmo |
