About shipping a pup I know this was discussed before but I didn't really understand it. I am THINKING not sure yet about shipping. Can you tell me how this is done? There is a lady in California that wants one of my pups and I"ve never shipped before so it would be from Indiana to there. So if I do decide to how is it done and have you had success with shipping..any and all comments would be helpful Thanks |
I'm not a breeder but I live in CA, and I had my baby girl shipped from Oklahoma. She was about 12 weeks and tiny. She did great. I had a very positive experience through her breeder shipping her out to me. Just thought I would give you my personal experience, so that if you feel this person would be a good owner, you would consider shipping. |
im in new york i had my chi shipped from texas ! he was fine he came out happy and shaking his booty lol im not sure how its done tho |
You ought to call or e-mail Linda. She knows all about the shipping. She did very well explaining it to me.I ended up not having to ship.If you send me your e-mail address,I'll also send you a link that I found about shipping. Faith |
Aggie was also shipped to me (California) from Oklahoma. Due to holiday schedule, airlines were either not scheduled or packed with the schedule I wanted. I thought I'd be helpful to my breeder and gave her several airlines that could work with my schedule. She told me she could only go with Continental Airline. In her experience, that was the best to go with. She was right. Aggie did very well. |

I will only book direct flights for puppies, adults I have had slight layovers with no problems. You can't book more than 10 days in advance and all airlines require a health certificate. Some states require a rabies shot at 3 months I have my vet write on the certificate too young for rabies. I always ship with nurtical, food, water, toy and warm blanket. Not all airlines accept "live cargo" one I have used in your area shipping Cappie to and from Indiana to Oregon was delta and also continental. Airlines request the pup two hours before the flight at the cargo counter, Ive always called in advance and they have let me bring them in up to a hour before the flight, I stay, play with them until they leave my sight and board the truck to the plane. I request the pup's new family to call the moment they arrive at cargo, I worry every time but pups have always lept out of their crate with kisses to greet their families. I hope this helps |

Femi..thank you as well for your advise. as well as the ones that had their pups shipped to them. I worried about this but if she can't pick him up..which she might..then i am going to ship and this eases my mind. |
1 Attachment(s) I just got my beauty Tobi from a breeder in Mississippi and had him shipped to me in Michigan. I was nervous but she said she shipped puppies all the time. She always picks a direct flight. No layovers. He came in a brand new kennel and she had taken all papers, contracts, etc. and put them in a zip lock bag and taped it in bottom of kennel. Over that she layed a whole thick newspaper, then a puppy pad, and then soft shredded bedding. She also had a water bottle attached to the door of kennel with those plastic locking handcuff thingies. (Don't know the actual name for them) She also had food inside kennel and food attached to top of kennel with instructions for airline staff. He arrived alittle frightened but happy for someone to let him out. I took nutristat with me to airport and immediately gave him some upon taking him out of kennel. He did great!! The staff there said they get lots of attention and are always kept under watchful eye. How could anyone ever ignore one I say? Hope this helps you if you decide to ship!! Here's a picture of my new little stud muffin. It was worth the stress of waiting for him. |
 Forgot to add the water was sugar water! She said she always puts sugar water in to help in case they get stressed and with no eating to keep them from get a hypoglycemia attack. Good idea! |
We had Jaxon shipped to Boston from Texas and he did great! Similar to others, it was a direct flight (American Airlines) with heated cargo (it was January). When we picked him up at the airport it was like he knew we were there for him - almost like, 'yep, there's my people!'. He came in a hard sided crate with water, food, his papers as well as some toys. The airline staff seemed quite familiar with the process which made things easy. |
