Sire faults and Dam faults I have read to ask about the sire faults and the dam faults of the puppy I purchase. What are some faults I should be asking about? Some people say theres doesn't have any fault  |
Don't believe a word they say. Even though you can eliminate some of the faults, there are NOOOO perfect yorkies. |
What are some of the faults? Am I right about long noses teeth? genetic stuff that would be easy to see |

I would be careful of anyone who claims there Yorkies does not have any faults. Showdogs are the closest you will get to perfect, and some of them have faults. IMO..Slight or larger faults are in the eye of the beholder. I see some dog that have the shorter snout and I like a dog with the longer snout ..so to me this would be a fault. I like the almond eyes.. so a dog with big round eyes would be a fault to me..etc. Faults to look for. Ears a little to big or off ..Not correct ear set. Legs a little long or a little to short. A little too long in the body. Eyes to wide. Nose not correct... may slope down. Coloring might not be in the correct places. Back not straight. Coat.. anything other then silky is a fault. Size to small to big. Over bite.. under bites IN other words IMO there is no perfect Yorkie.... :) |
http://www.ytca.org/education1.html that link is for judging purposes but it shows drawings of correct and incorrect eyes and ears etc. |
faults I would not buy a Yorkie from a breeder who thought their Yorkies were fault free...they are either blind or uneducated to the breed standard. LOL |

what to expect? Should I expect a breeder to answer if I ask What are the sire and dam's faults? How did this mating improve the breed? What if I decided to breed the pup I buy I should have this infor.? Right? |
breeder A good breeder should be able to take each dog..sire and dam, put them on a table, go over them and tell you point by point how they compare to the standard. They should be able to show the pedigree and tell you about some or many of the Yorkies on that paper. If you want a breed prospect, do not expect just any breeder to sell you one..and not at 8 weeks. Most serious breeders with quality dogs, decides who gets their stock for breeding, not the other way around. Good Luck |
I'm having a difficult time finding a breeder with these qualifications. I'm getting discouaged but still looking |
breeder You might contact local vets and ask if they have any breeder clients who are reputable, take good care of their dogs and have quality dogs. If you contact a breeder from the YTCA or a regional Yorkie club, you will not get breeding stock until you establish a relationship with the breeder for the most part. |
