is my yt too big to stud? hi...almost two years ago, i purchased a yorkie-poo. my husband and i loved her so much so we decided to let her have puppies but i wanted to keep the yorkie look and personality. no one would breed their sire to my yorkie-poo. my husband and i decided to get our own yorkie...let "muffy" have puppies and keep one. then we have three. when i purchased "kirby", i also decided i would let him be a stud dog. the breeder advised me the mother was 6lbs and the father 5lbs. kirby is now 6months and is 7lbs. is this too large to make him into a stud dog?? also i worry he may be too big for muffy (8lbs). please give any advise. thanks so much lisa :animal36 :aimeeyork |
stud Yes, he is too big IMO |
Hes not to big to breed, But he is to big to breed if you want to stay in the Yorkie standards. Sorry I reread that. Kirby is only 6 months . So he may still grow, he may be to big for your female at the adult weight. |
thanks for the response. i am so sad the breeder led me to believe kirby would be smaller. he has the perfect face, ears, coat and he is loads of fun. my next door neighbor has a boxer and a basset hound. there is a hole in between the fence so kirby can play. he loves everyone and all dogs. what a sham i cannot breed him. he would make wonderful puppies. thanks again lisa |
He might not be too big to stand to stud for your Yorkie-poo. Just wait until he gets hold enough and make your judgement call then. And, after all, these will not be purebred Yorkies, so they could probably be a little bigger than the standard of 6#. My daughter had two Maltese and the male is just a bit larger than the Female. The female does just fine with her pups. |
