Stud Service 101 HELP! I am in need of major help of stud service info for my 2 male yorkies!!!! I am so new to all of this. I bred my female last year, she only had one pup and had to have an emergency c-section. It was quite an experience! Since them I got her fixed and am only dealing with my males. One of which is her pup and the other his half brother. Is there any other info I need to know about when doing the whole stud service??? I took my 3 to the groomer yesterday, and already received 2 phone calls requesting to see my males! I am so nervous! I want to feel prepared when speaking to these people. Any info will be great!!!!!! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
stud service You need to have a breed quality male, pedigree, health tests, brucellois test AKC DNA on record, stud contract. You should only offer the proven male but many will chance and unproven one. Female should come to your home she should be bred at least twice perhaps three times. Make sure the female has been health checked, brucellois test and pedigree. SOme times people would come to me for stud service and not have a clue about the pedigree. I would look at the AKC registration and know the female was from a friend who had used my male for stud..or perhaps bought a puppy from my breeding from a friend..the dog may have changed hands..but what I am saying is, without a pedigree I would have bred borther and sister a few times not knowing. Good Luck |
I personally feel that the stud owner also shares the responsibility for any puppies produced from the stud service. So, mother's size is an issue. Experience of the owner of the female in breeding, etc. Are you willing to be their mentor or do you have the experience to even consider that? Will you be able to require that the get be sold on S/N contract with limited reg? Will the owner of the female say that you need to help sell the puppies? What if the puppies are genetically defective--who pays? That is where the pedigree is a help. I know for a fact, that Pat required a lot more info than she posted before she allowed her males to stud.. Have your males been looked at by an experienced Yorkie breeder to evaluate their faults?--all living creatures have some faults so that is not a bad thing. |
I'm in favor of AI-ing dogs if they are not my own. less risk of VD or injuries. |
