"I just got off the phone with her and she told me that she would ship another puppy to me out of a litter she had right now for $500.00, this puppy is going to be around 6 pounds." That is the way the guarantees are usually honored. My question is "What makes a breeder think someone will want another puppy from them? Wasn't one sick baby enough?" Are you saying that she wants you to PAY for another puppy from her? I do hope that you can refuse to pay that, or any amount, for another puppy and that you can recover some of your vet bills. Maybe her camera is broken or maybe she has to run out and but a puppy from some other person to send you. That happens in the area where I live--several breeders just keep the others out of trouble by letting them have a puppy to send. Then, when that one gets in trouble, someone else bails them out. I have no way of knowing this is the case here, but it does sound suspicious... |
Amy, I am so terribly about your loss of little Zoe. God bless you in your resolution of this! |
I am so sorry you had to go through this, I'ts horrible. Seriously check into the puppy lemons laws in your state and the breeders. I don't think if you want another puppy from her you should pay a dime! |

I agree, there should not be an additional charge in my opinion. She should have graciously shipped you another baby free of charge. Gosh I know this is frustrating for you and you are grieving. Maybe don't let her know that you are so anxious to get another baby just this minute. Let her know that you feel you should be compensated and express your concerns to her. And for what she is charging for her pups, she ought to be able to get a camera for her clients. Sorry, I'm just feeling frustrated right along with you. I wish you the best, |
Thank You! I am completely overwhelmed by everyone's support here.....wow, thank you! Thank you so mush for all of your heart felt advice and caring condolences. I really value every word sent to me. *God Bless all of you* I have copey and pasted the email from me to her, and her reply. This top paragraph is her reply. You will have to give her bones or rope toy's to pull out those teeth or have them pulled by a Vet. All small dogs have popping knee's just don't be pulling on them it will make them weak and then it will be surgery. I'm glad she is so happy at her new home and I'm glad you love her just watch her a round big dogs they will think she is a rat and kill her so many times little dogs get pick up by big dogs and they shake them one time and their dead... Linda Twinkle Toes <twinkle@bresnan.net> wrote: Hello, I just wanted to let you know that Zoë is doing great! she is a celebrity in my grooming shop. She loves everyone and wants to play with all of the dogs that come in, big and small, although sometimes I have to put her in her bed to keep her safe. She wares a bell so we can hear her presence. Her favorite toy is a yellow ball and she will "fight to the death for it" she growls like a little motor boat and her tail wags at lightening speed when anyone tries to get it from her (it's her little game), soooo cute! By the way, she has GROWN. When you shipped her she was 6"long and 5"tall and now she is 7"tall and 7"long, quite a growth spurt. Another thing is she has two rows of teeth, her baby teeth have not fallen out yet, is this normal, what do I do? Last but not least, her back knees pop when I bend them, is this something I should worry about? Thanks, Amy |

So sorry for your lose but I would not pay her a dime for another puppy. If you want another one I would look for another breeder. |
Did not sound to me like you were just trying to get a free puppy from her. Sounds like she wants to get another puppy in your hands so you will not make her live up to her responsibilities.. |

I'm so sorry.................. I was devastated over your story, as I know you still are. I think some of the wonderful people have given you some great advice. I wish you luck and I hope you get another yorkie to fill that empty place. Not to replace Zoe, but to help your heart heal. My prayers to you and little Zoe. I am also a groomer. I specialized in small and toy dogs. I checked out your grooming web site. It is soooo cute! I love the before and after shots. You do a great job!!! I to am a very kind and gentle groomer.........whatever it takes to make that furbaby happy. Right? I'm the gentle groomer! Take care of your sweet self and stay in touch with Yorkie Talk.......WE CARE!!!!! |
Oh amy...Bless your heart....no ....all dogs do not have popping knees and she DID know about this before she shipped her....there's no way she didn't because it sounds really bad for a yorkie so young to have bad LP at 5 months....Her email alone says alot about her ethics as a breeder. Not good. I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience and I would take my time if I were you and try to work this out where either you DO get a new puppy at no charge ...or you try to recoup your money from her...which is doubtful. What a hard thing to go thru......losing your baby AND that much money is a double whammy....It's possible she can replace that poor baby with another but I sure wouldn't give her another dime. |

My heart goes out to you. It must have been so awful for you. I heard a story just the other day, and I can't rememhber the name of the breeder or where they were from, but the story was, that they got this tiny Yorkie that they had paid a fortune for and after they got it, it grew like crazy, so the belief was, that the breeder deliberately starved her to keep her tiny because people will pay more for a tiny one. This story had a happy ending, but still, How horrible to think that anyone would do that. I have decided that when I have puppies, people will get a book on Yorkies when they make their deposit, so they know what is normal and what to watch for. Good Luck to you on what ever you decide to do. I have a feeling if you tell her that you are contacting a lawyer, that she will replace your puppy AND pay the shipping free of charge. Jeanie |
