My girl had 2 pups and no afterbirth. whats going on? hi, im new to thsi and im glad that something like this exists. My girl had a puppy at 10:47 am and another pup at 11:33 am. its already 1 am next mornign and no afterbirth. is somethign wrong with her? im not going to sleep becasue im scared. please, anyone have any suggestions let me know. she seems fine, she plays with pups and kisses them n naps, n drinks water. but she does not go potty. this worries me. she wont leave the pups to pee pee. |
Take her to the vet. The afterbirth must be expelled. She can become very ill. Usually my girls don't want to leave their babies for the first 24 hrs. Maybe you can take her out to relieve herself. But right now get the afterbirth out! |
i could not tear her away from her babies, but i put my coat on and told her stirckly "outside" n she quickly jumped off the bed. she tried to go towrds her ababies after i placed the harness on but i wouldnt let her. she did pee pee. i see some blood from the crease ofher vagina, but im wating for the afterbirth still. |
Yes...it is very important that it expelled, extracted, whatever you want to call it ASAP! :eek: |
Get her to a vet. They can give her an oxytocin shot which will start the contractions back up and clean her out. Infection can set in and that will kill her. |
I agree, you need to get her to vet ASAP. She can die from this if infection sets in. |

Thank you everyone. Im taking her to the vet at 2 pm for a check up and x ray. The vet said hell more lilky give her the oxytocin shot. Right now shes fine. She goes pee pee as well, which she didnt want to do yesterday. And teh funnything is is that she waits until i come home and take her out instead of going on the pads which i got for her. Shes trained in both so i dont know y she wants to go outside when she can do it inside? There is more discharge coming out than last night so maybe things are progressing naturally, but i want her to be checked out anyways. To make her feel better, i went ot petco and got her her fav foods as well as a new fluffy bone shaped pillow t cuddle to, and some of her favorite chewing bones. She didnt want the bone but she loved the food and the pillow ;) I will post again after the visit form vet. Thank you soo much everyone. Im so happy that Yorkie Talk exists.
