Is it possibly to completely remove hereditary problems in lines? If you are breeding for the betterment of the breed, I know if a herditary problem pops up, you find the cause and remove the dog from your program. Since their are certain problems that run in each breed is it possibly to completely remove defects? Since there is generation upon generation in their background doesnt every line always have the chance of the defect coming out? |
Just my opinion , it is impossible to remove all the heredity problems in a line . |
gentics Not only is it impossible to remove ALL genetic problems..it is impossible to remove some of the simplier ones whrn breeders stick their heads in the sand..do you remember the recent thread about breeding a male with one testicle? |
There is no perfect dog, but you can remove the worse faults only if everyone adheres to the breed standard and removes any problem dogs from their breeding program instead of continuing to breed them because they like their looks, or they don't want to admit that their dogs have a problem. |
