starwood: just wanted to let you know that a nice lady with ****zues named debby drawdy (dear friend of mine) referred me to you in 2003. i didnt contact you because i ended up getting an import but have kept your website on hand but it's so crazy that i meet you now in this forum. just thought i'd elaborate.....take care and best wishes. email me or i'm' if you ever want to talk. i'm wanting to get into showing really really bad but have not had any luck. have established nice lines but havent had the will to put myself in that ring. would love to talk to you. |
the hall of shame Seems like I hear the horror stories when people call to ask about puppies. I have friends that I refer to when I don't have puppies available but I try to only refer to those that follow the YTCA code of ethics and bile acid test their puppies. One lady asked me last week if she should take her puppy home at 5 weeks old because the breeder said the mother had weaned her and it would be fine-- I do wish Tennessee would get a law for people like that. CKC and the others scare me because they aren't inspected nor do they do the DNA testing. I don't want to scare anyone about the 22 pound 5 month old yorkie owner that called me last month. |
akc :) when i looked at my yorkie the first time they told me he was ckc, canadian kennel club. but when i looked at his papers the day we picked him up it is actually continental kennel club, but it was too late we were already in love , his breeder was not on the list so maybe she wasn't banned from akc |
The registry doesen't necessarily make the dog good or bad.I have a apri male yorkie and he is just terrific! I wouldn't trade him for all the akc's in the world. I do have akcs. My first doggie when i was 5 years old came from a shelter in Detriot. I had her for 5 years and believe me she was the greatest. She became blind and lost her leg in a hunting trip from hanging it in a fence so my dad had her put to sleep. Broke my little girl heart.AKC is just a bit stricter in case you want to show your dog or sell it. Prevents a lot of bad people cheating on the registry, but it isn't the poor doggies fought.I believe all dogs are good unless people have their hand in it to make them bad.. |
I do show and do a small amount of breeding. I myself will only register with AKC or buy a dog that is AKC, except for my imports which are FCI. Canadian Kennel club is also a good registry. AKC does do inhome inspections once a breeder has had 5 litters in one year, unless the requirements has changed. AKC looks at your records and the shape of your dogs, dogs living environment and each dog has to be microchipped or tattooed. Some people will buy an AKC dog on limited registration and than turn around and CKC, APR, NPR, ACA the dog to be able to breed it! I honestly believe there are alot of suspended AKC breeders that also resort to these registries to keeping breeding their dogs with some kind of papers! My personal opinion is that our dogs would be better off with just AKC here in the US. Melanie |
I like AKC too, but like Angie i fell in love with pee wee. I was looking for AKC and for some reason took it for granted that the ladies puppies where AKC. We drove a long way and he was so cute. She did have her licience suspended, for some kind of bad paper work on a Doberman. Her last name is Groll and it is on the suspension list, so you probably are right about these people getting suspended than going to CKC or APRI or whatever other is out there. They have one now called ACA, which my Princess is also registered with, but she is also AKC, DNA tested and microchipped.I wonder if my little pee wee used to be AKC and he got his papers taken away. He is so darling, only 2 lbs and extremely healthy for such a small dog. I do stick with AKC from now on. He is part of the family and we will love him no matter what. When I bought the dog she told me that she just quit AKC but when i saw the list on here i saw her name on it along with her husbands, so now I know the truth. I probably would have bought him anyway. I only gave $400 for him amd I wouldn't take any amount of money for him now. |
Please do not misunderstand me, EVERY DOG DESERVES A WONDERFUL LOVING FOREVER HOME, no matter what registery they come from!! I was just trying to state that if someone has been suspended through AKC they have done something unethical and are probably still doing it, but through another registery that does not do inspections like AKC. Yes, this is dangerous to think that this list is complete. Siliski of Hollybelle Maltese is not on here and there could not be anyone worse that I know of anyway |

This is really great, Thank you! I will be sure to reference this when I get my next Yorkie! |
Great Information Thanks!!!! Gees this makes it scarey to purchase a puppy. I am in the process of buying a Yorkie. I just checked out the Lady I have been talking to about a female Yorkie and she is not on the list. That makes me feel a little better. There is also a man that has one that is APRI Registered. Thanks for the Information. Theresa |
AKC SUSPENSIONS-WOW, What an important list THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU....... I put it on my "favorites" list. |
I like going there and checking to see if I know anyone who has been suspended. :p |
