Meatball Recipe-Gain Weight
 
I would like to know if anyone on the forum has the meatball recipe for helping your dog gain weight? I do know that you use hamburger, wheat germ and eggs, but that is all I can remember..

I got this recipe from another YT member.


1lb hamburger or ground chicken/ turkey

1c Total cereal crushed

1c uncooked Oatmeal

1 egg

1/3c wheat germ (unless wheat sensitive)

1pkg Knox gelatin w/vitamin C

1/8c flaxseed oil

1/8c sulphured molasses

Mix dry ingredients with crushed total and then mix wet and combine the two. Knead well and form into meatballs/logs freeze until use. Serve raw thawed. You can add fresh veg in season shredded fine (carrots, green beans are a favorite) and I usually add a spoonful of fresh chopped parsley to the mix.

That sounds like the one that I had...got it from a fellow breeder.

I just have one question don't if it is stupid or not - what is sulphured mol.? Is it at the grocery store. :p Thanks to anyone who lets me know :D

Not really sure but I tried to research it and it says that it is "heavier and sweeter". I think it's just dark molasses which you could find in the grocery store.

I missed the one on the "pee-pole". I'm guessing what it is but not sure :)

No where in any of the satin ball recipes does it say to cook them. I serve it to my dog raw and she LOVESSSSSSS them. Been doing it for about a year and she has had no problems whatsover so I don't believe u r not supposed to cook them.

For the furbabies, no, you don't cook. I was referring to people eating it raw. Sorry I confused everyone.

Its of to give dogs raw hamburger? I didnt think any kind of raw meat was good for dogs.now in confused.

Thats what I have always heard... :confused:

I would worry about raw chicken and turkey, too. If its harmful to us, wouldn't it be harmful to them too?

can you cook it cause i dont like feeding my dog raw stuff that can get sick from it
Do not feed your dog raw meat, due to the risk of bacteria and cysts that might be present in uncooked meat.
some people do but i dont like to i dont want to risk it

Fresh raw ground beef should certainly not hurt your dog. Anyone ever heard of steak tartare? And if you are giving it as a treat you should be fine. JMO.

This is the Satin Balls, and several people do cook them because they do not like to feed raw. They bake them in the oven. The fat in the satin balls is what puts weight on the dog.

I have a breeder fried who made the satin balls and gave them to one of her tiny females to add some weight. Poor baby had diarrhea so bad but she might have been giving a little too much...How about the BARF diet that many people feed their dogs? They are raw..
