Coathair question on my new pup 4 Attachment(s) Hello Everyone! I am really new to the yorkie world so please bare with me if i dont have the right terminology. Flynn came home to us this week. he is 4mos - 3.4lbs. My sister adopted his brother as well but Flynn weighs about a 1lb less than his brother and his brother has a bit more hair. I sense flynn was malnourished a bit. I have a 7mos old Parti Yorkie too. All I know is their mom is a gold yorkie. By looking at his pictures can someone tell me what type of coat he will have? The top of his head has a silver tone and his super soft and silky and so are his legs. BUT the top hair where all the black hair is dry, dull and thin - kinda looks like he has split ends. New growth is coming in, and changing color. Do you think the new growth will be a silkier feel like the top of his head? Thank you for any help!Attachment 413134 Attachment 413135 Attachment 413136 Attachment 413137 |
Honestly I think your going to have to wait it out and just see what happens. |
Ok. Thanks. |
Yikes, coat quality is hard to predict and can be influenced by a number of complex things. From the pictures you posted it looks to me like your boy has a wooly coat, kind of rough textured. He looks like a handsome little guy and good nutrition and clever grooming will keep him looking his best.:) |

I am not a breeder but I do know that with my pups their coats all changed as the years went by. The worst was a little boy I have that had Parvo when my daughter bought him. He’s fine but his ears used to stand up and his coat felt silky. Now his ears are floppy and his coat is cottony. However, I have found that regardless of the coar texture, they are ALL Yorkie! I love them and all of their idiosyncrasies 😁 |
