AKC setting price I have been thinking of getting another Yorkie (my boy died about 4 years ago). The breeder I have been in communication with is telling me that she has to charge a certain amount for her dogs because AKC calls her clients to be sure the breeder is charging the fee they told her she has to charge. I have never heard of this before. Is this true? She also said they told her that she if she charges 1 person to groom their Yorkie, she has to charge everyone. It just seems weird to me. Thanks for any input you may have. |
I am not a breeder but I have never heard that before. It sound very suspicious. I would look around for another breeder. The AKC does not call people |

Sounds like BS to me . For info like that I’d imagine that the AKC or breed specific clubs would have this level of detail posted on their website . For business practice I can see her charging a specific amount looking at her local competition etc however to blame her prices on the AKC is incorrect. There are a few puppy buying guides floating around I’m sure that can give you some good direction . In my experience in buying from a breeder expect a higher price when the breeder actively shows their dogs , does health testing , length of time she keeps them , etc. In many instances you get what you pay for . So have this in mind when interviewing your potential breeder. |
I don’t think that is correct. I would more on from this breeder because I think she is not being truthful. |
I would beware of this breeder. None of this is what I am aware of! |
