Tell me your impressions about Ms. Lipstik! 4 Attachment(s) YT Friends, Ms. Marilyn Monroe "Lipstik" is now seven months, and weighs about four and a half pounds. I am including some pictures I took of her last week. I had talked with her breeder who may consider co-ownership if Ms. Lipstik is suitable for showing and breeding. I would love to show her, though I have never done this before, but only would consider this if she is worthy of being shown and bred(though this is not my first consideration, but would need to do this for the breeder). she has a double bite on both bottom teeth. And her coat is short for showing. Let me tell you she is something else. She has a wonderful disposition. She not only is loving towards me, but she is confident and is certainly developing some wicked traits. As many of you know, I have a Smooth fox terrier(19 lbs) and a loving Yorkie, General Patton(weighing around 10 lbs). Well, Ms. Lipstik will get on my ottoman and protect a little rawhide bone(with supervision of course) to the point that if Bella or Patton comes close to her, she will lunge (can't think of another word) :D at them, teeth showing, growling, to the point that she will fall off the ottoman. And Bella will back off. It is so cute. General Patton even tries to be the mediator with Bella. But she is very sociable with them otherwise. What I would like to know from the breeders especially is if you would give me your honest(and I do like to know what you think)input of Lipstik, but also what it would take to start a show career for someone like me who has never done this before. I would love to hear if anyone knows someone in NC if I decide to do this. This would be nice for me to consider, but will only do this after discussing this with the breeder, and knowing she has a good chance. Thanks for your help. Maria |
3 Attachment(s) Here are a few more pics of Lipstik. Hope you enjoy! Later I will send pics of Patton and Bella too. Thanks again. |
I'd love to help you , but I have very little knowledge of the ring, and I'm looking for answers also!! Good luck ;) |
I e-mailed you a novel....hugs to Miss Lippy! |
Lips.. This is my opinion...why not breed her to a good champion and get your own show potential? I think she has good breeding potential, whether she can be the show dog you want would take a "hands on for me." Her ears are big, but if you allow the hair to grow..only cutting the last third of the hair, they will not stand out, the drape of hair will work....I think her ears look bigger because there is too much hair removed. Her coat looks silk and the color is coming in well...Her muzzle is a touch long, but a nice puffed top knot will cure that.. I am not much for finishing someone elses breeding. (unless a close friend)I realize you must start somewhere, but if I am going to spend the money, work my butt off, it will be for one I bred. You had a foundation bitch, find a stud with smaller ears, shorter muzzle and attitude..and see what happens..best wishes. PS..pedigree is important..she must bring some good genes to the breeding. |
I cannot tell from any of these pix if her topline is level. Her coat is coming in nicely it seems and I totally agree with Pat. From these pix, she does look okay as a breed possibility but if she has a long body with short legs she possibly will not have a future in the ring. NOW, I am saying this with the understanding that pix are not everything and you should have another experienced breeder/handler evaluate her before making any decisions and putting out a lot of money. Don't know what Stacy had to say in her PM but you can bet she is being honest and fair in her evaluation.. |
Thanks Pat and Rini, I will measure her and post , but I do think she is longer and legs are not leggy. Stacy had made a similar remark about the ears and the manner they were trimmed. Thanks again. |
Lips Don't take anything negative..she has a very good pedigree..a soild foundation for anyone interested in potential ring puppies...plus, she may do well herself...grow more coat, furnishings, ring train her and give it a try..good luck |
Thanks for the vote of confidence Rini...Maria and I have been e-mailing back and forth quite a bit today...I got validated on the ears by Pat (thanks Pat) and she sent me a decent side shot...topline looks good, legs, tough to tell. Attitude, fiesty. I agree with Pat that it would be much more gratifying to finish your own, but the breeder is withholding full registration until she decides potential and showing her might be the only way Maria can get a foot in the door with this girl. Us newbies gotta start somewheres. Pedigree's solid, I'd give her a whirl....hey, it's supposed to be a fun hobby right? |
But, Stacy, it is MORE fun when you are winning...LOL |
With that "extra" info, I would follow through and groom her for the ring. Good Luck |

I'll be cheering from the sidelines! |
You gals are awesome!!! Thanks! |
Ok, I measured Lipstik and she is 7" from floor to the topline and 9" in length. This is the best measurements I could obtain today. But it may be more than 9 in length. |
