If I have learned nothing else, I have learned that owner surrenders lie about 90% of the time and breeders trying to dump their sick dogs lie 100% of the time.

What a horror story .. I hope no other pups become ill because of this.

I'm guessing that would mean everything that was posted was sadly true. I hope those moms and puppies don't get parvo. Doesn't buying from a breeder mean the breeder will just get more dogs?

Not all vets keep parvo cases most send them home with the owner unless they're really critical and require IV fluids around the clock.

Incase you do come back the answer to your question is their diet shouldn't change. Unless they're really underweight just continue to feed them normally be careful with calcium to much calcium in their diet can cause them to have trouble during the whelping process. I usually don't even feed puppy food until puppies are born. Some people like to add a raw egg or yogurt to the diet but that should be stopped at the 6 week mark.

The post said the puppies WERE critical. Also says she took them home and one died overnight.....and this was to a home where the pregnant pups were coming in. :(

I guess we read that post differently ... I don't have first hand knowledge of what happened....just going by that post BUT i will tell you that, as a rescuer myself, I would not take a parvo puppy into my home. Especially one that young....it would be admitted .. period. Maybe this person didn't know it was parvo...but if a puppy died that quickly something was very wrong and I wonder why parvo wasn't suspected. (unless it was and someone rolled the dice...I don't know. All I know is it is very very sad)

Very rare cases don’t require hospitalization.

Actually more calories are recommended like a puppy food. Also she deleted her account. It’s terrible to claim to be a rescue and not do right by the dogs and get them the care needed.

Actually a high quality food is all that is needed and this is coming from someone who has been breeding for over 10 years and has a mentor who has been breeding close to 50 years. Added calcium is not needed and is very dangerous if you do choose to feed puppy food it should be stopped at the 6 week mark.

It's actually not that rare at all. I know people who've had more success dealing with parvo at home than at the vets. Maybe since I'm part of the bully world and parvo is fairly common I've seen and experienced a lot more of this than some.

There are many breeders who would disagree. You need more calories when you have little puppies taking your nutrition. I have also been through classes.

I'm not saying I agreed with her decision at all. I was just pointing out not all parvo cases are hospitalized at the vet and with parvo it can take a drastic turn on the drop of a pin so saying the puppy died that night doesn't really prove anything I've seen puppies who looked like they were on their death beds make a full recovery and I've seen the opposite with puppies who seemed fine and just dropped out of nowhere. But what's done is done harping on someone and making them feel bad isn't going to reverse the decision all it's going to do is run them off which sadly is what happened.

I again disagree, I have been through the classes almost every parvo pup should be hospitalized. I’m thinking maybe the dogs your talking about might not have truly had full parvo or parvo at all. These are the symptoms of parvo https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions...irus_infection they require fluids because of those symptoms and the smaller the dog the more severe and the more deadly.

The point is to say this isn’t a reputable rescue and they aren’t doing the right things. You do not take pregnant moms into a house we’re a pup just died of parvo because then you are setting her pups up for parvo and death and maybe her if she’s not vaccinated.
