4 week old puppies eye? I am having such a hard time with the littlest girl in Lilli's Litter what happened was when they where opening their eyes one of the other pups hurt her eye,she has been on eye cream for about a week now and it was better so I stopped and then today it started again which they are now playing hard with each other but the vet said while she was trying to open her eye it didnt open all the way and I am hoping and praying it will or surgery will be in the pic, has anyone else had this happen? Its only at the end of her eye that hasnt opened they will be 4 weeks on Sat. so I am having to put the Antib.in there 4 times a day, I dont know if anyone can give me any suggs but it would be greatly apprecaited (SP) oh and I have been putting a warm wash cloth before I put the cream in there and it seems to help, so any info? Thanks Kristi |
Oh, Kristi...I'm so sorry about your pup's eye. I don't have any suggestions for you. Seems as though you're doing what you can. |
Im so sorry that your little pup got hurt. I dont have any suggestions for you but wanted to say that i will pray that her eye open soon without the need of the surgery. Please keep us posted. |
Im trying my best but what else can I do these little stinkers wont leave each other alone:) So I am just going to keep up what I am doing but sometimes I feel maybe I should be doing something more to clear that eye up. I had her to the vet today and they want to see her on Monday so I have tell then to get that eye right.Hopefully I can get it cleared up but she has been my worry from day one she was the smallest almost 4 weeks and weighs 12 ounces so I always have that strong feeling with her. |
Try using a warm tea bag on the eye area. Gently rub the eye with the tea bag -- green tea is the best. Hope this helps |
Thanks any info will be great as long as I get it under control by monday,I will give it a try see if that helps I also heard of warm milk but havnt tried it yet I say I will be trying everything this week. I wanted to post this because if this happens to anyone else they can get it under control this is why YT is here to learn new stuff everyday:) |
Don't know about the tea but I definitely would NOT use milk. It is one of the ingredients in some culture media because bacteria grows so well in it. Please ask your vet if masaging the eye gently with eye ointment might help.. Is it possible it could be swelling? I hope that little bugger decides there is so much in the world to see, and will pop that eye open PDQ! |
eye You say that the eye is only half open..the end is still closed? Can the vet open it up completely, shoudl be a minor thing to do???..I am having a hard time understanding the "hurt" part. I have seen them get a scratch, ulcer on the cornea. I have heard of a dry eye from a tear duct problem..this is new to me...could you post a picture? Keep the nails short..best wishes |

I had a little pup with an eye infection. I would gently rub it with a wet warm washcloth, just water. If I held it on a little and got it nice and clean, I could gently pry his eye open. When it didn't clear up, the vet prescribed an ointment, Ophth Oint-Triple. (Triple Antibiotic Ointment by Vedco.) It cleared up fine. I continued to wipe with a clean warm washcloth until it cleared up completely, then put in ointment 2 x daily. |
Thanks Laura I have the ointment and Triple Antib, I will try what you did, Thanks for the info! Kristi |
eye Alot depends on the actual problem. If it a tear duct problem and the eye is dry from no tears, then that needs surgery later. If it is a scratch from another pup, then that will heal with medication..sometimes the vet will stitch the eye shut to heal the scratch. Best wishes |
