Long Hair Dream versus Wanting Babies! Question please! I've had and yet have yorkies which are the love of my life, but never achieved the long hair that I've always dreamed of till this one... I of course have the most beautiful yorkie of all lol! She will be a year old August 11th, and is due to come into her 2nd heat around October. I would love to breed her at least once before I have her fixed. I would of course like another baby for myself ;), and I have a daughter that is begging also that would be a fantastic mama. My question is, do I really have to cut all of her hair off if I do this? Could I leave it long and just have her belly and behind shaved? The thought of cutting her hair is killing me after working so hard to keep it. "She's cotton, not silky". I wouldn't however want to make her miserable, nor her puppies have a hard time nursing just for the sake of my pride in her appearance. So just wondering if anyone has let the hair remain long, and how did it work out? I'd really appreciate any replies. And I thank everyone here, this site is a place I don't post much, but I visit as much as anywhere on the net lol. There usually isn't much that I can't find out here, but tonight for some reason the search won't work for me, so starting a new thread. I'm gonna post a photo of her, it's at 11 months on the 11th of July. I'm so proud of my girl! 20160712_125330.jpg Photo by falnangl4u | Photobucket |
Sorry I can't answer your question. Just wanted to comment on your baby, she is BEAUTIFUL, I can see why you don't want to cut her hair. |
OMG... your baby is beautiful:) As far as long hair and breeding, well I choose not to breed my little Remy. It wasn't about her hair. I just didn't have the knowledge and experience and she was 4 lbs at 1 year (now she is chubby like her mama :D). I just didn't want the risk nor the responsibility. I totally understand wanting another yorkie... I do too! Now is not the time for me though:( Good luck what ever you decided. |
She is Beautiful! I love her long hair. Could you possibly get puppies from the same parents? I would really be hesitant to breed her. Some of the breeders here can advise you better than I can but from what I hear, breeding small dogs can be risky. |
OMG, she is absolutely gorgeous. What a beauitful litter she would have. Whatever you decide I wouldn't cut her hair. |
Just got to where I could read the replies & first of all thanks!!! I've worked so hard at that cotton coated baby with the red demon eyes lol on a daily basis and seems sooo much time! But I learned fast that a cotton coat means LOTS of hair which I wanted so bad, but tangles and mats if I miss even 1 day, so I don't! As long as I keep up with it she's fine with it and luvs being brushed, and the feeling she brings when I look at her, love her, the pride I take in her, and others making a fuss over her are so worth it. I was afraid someone would tell me how selfish my question was because I somewhat feel that, but I really am concerned about it and only want the best. I still have my Tia from my aviator photo, she's I think like 11 or 12 yrs. old now. She always had allergy and skin problems, so the long hair has never happened for her. I got another puppy, and she died and broke my heart. She was silky, green eyed, and beautiful, but never made it to a year old... I didn't think I could ever get another, but my hubby insisted thru my grieving, and I got miss Molly. Rambling, sorry... Anyway, I went thru 2 litters of puppies with Tia, 1 was accidental. She had always weighed around 5 lbs. I learned a lot and had the best helper by my groomer/best friend/and who had went to vet school too. I think I can handle it and there is a super vet 45 min. away. Molly weighs just a bit over 5 lbs. I'd like to find a smaller male, and I so very much want to let her have pups. Thanks so much everyone, and yet too, if anyone ever tried it with the long hair, I'd still like to hear how it turned out. |
