Differences between Parti and Biewer? Hi I am brand new to this site. I'm looking into getting a Biewer Yorkie. I've never had a Yorkie or Biewer, but I love this breed and want to understand it more. I'm certainly not going to be breeding anytime soon, if ever, but I really wanted to expand my knowledge. I know the Biewer is technically considered a different breed now than a Yorkie. How different is a Parti Yorkie from a Biewer. Price? Colorations? Coat? Anatomy? Health Issues? I've been trying to do lots of information about the genetics of how this all came to be and why they are different, but I'm having trouble finding information from reliable and knowledgeable sources. I've heard of things like an F5 Biewer? What does this mean? Any information at all would be amazing and much appreciated! |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! You may find this answers a lot of questions: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...formation.html |
Thank you! I've been looking through a lot of this information since you gave it to me. One question I do have is are the parti gene and the biewer gene allelic? Are they the same gene just different lines or are they actually a different type of trait? Because biewers seem to have more consistent coloring and parti yorkies seem to be randomly colored (more like a piebald gene), or am I wrong? |
Yes the Biewers are much more standardized than parti Yorkies. |

I am not sure what F5 means to a Biewer but with fish it means 5th generation removed from the wild. It might mean 5th generation Biewer. F4 would be 4th gen, etc. Just a guess |
You are correct about F5. |
