Breeding.. I recently took Sadie to be bred. I took her everyday and she stayed the night. I haven't noticed any signs of it being successful aside from the fact her appetite has increased. Other than that I don't know and how long from now should I know? It's been about two or two and half weeks since all of this took place. The person whom had the mall didn't know if it was successful either. How do I know? What should I look for? |
Too soon to tell since ending heat hormones are the same as pregnancy hormones. 28 to 32 days post tie a vet can palpate to confirm pregnancy. About day 35 or so you can get an ultrasound done and see their little heartbeats. Some nonreliable signs you can look for is vulva remaining somewhat swollen, teats becoming dark and more pronounced and mammary tissue growing. Morning sickness around 3 weeks is a pretty good sign, but not all dogs have it. Around 5 or 6 weeks weight gain should be visible, but this is true in a false pregnancy as well (generally with a false they show quicker and are bigger). Heartbeats can be heard with a stethoscope as early as day 42, but definitely by day 50 when movement is also felt. |
I noticed she grew up the other day not something very typical for her. But it was also at night or early evening when she did it. In gonna give it so more time and see how she develops but I just want to know if there were any tall tale signs in advance. |
Is this your first time breeding? Do you have a mentor? |
Yes this is my first time and I do not have a mentor. |

Do you have a suggestion or recommendation on someone? Or yourself? Thanks I'll take any advice I can get. |

Well that is nearly impossible. I am close to the puppy mill capital of the world so that's tough. |

Wow, puppymill capital and yet still adding to the problem with not breeding the correct way. Don't get me wrong, I thought about breeding my first yorkie also, in fact to make money off her. Thank god I read up and educated myself. Too much to lose. Not only money, but my yorkie. |
