False pregnancy and pyometria Our 4 year old Yorkie was diagnosed with pyometria 2 days ago after experiencing a false pregnancy. She had an urgent spay performed yesterday and arrived home in good health earlier today. The poor baby is now very protective of 2 certain toys and will only put the one down to eat a few bites. She seems so sad. Is there anything we can do to soothe her? |
Just let her have her little stuffed toy "puppies".....I had one that went through a false pregnancy and she "took care of her babies for almost 3 weeks.....she gradually weaned herself away from her "babies".....it broke my heart to see her go through this....but everytime I had a momma with a litter here, poor little Hailee would gather up HER "babies, nest under the crate the momma and babies were in......she wanted to be a momma sooooooo badly.....she absolutely adored babies......just love on her, give her special attention, and let her "act out" with her "own little litter".... |
Oh my that is so sad. I agree with Yorkiemom. She is a very experienced and REPUTABLE breeder. I would do as she suggests. Pyometria is scary. I hope your baby feels better soon. |
Thanks so much. It is breaking our heart to watch this. She would have made a very good mom had she ever had puppies. We will continue to comfort our little girl. |
