Breeder recommendations in Florida...
 
I am starting my research on Yorkie breeders because I already know that I want to get Sheldon a sister/playmate before he passes a year old. I just want them to grow up together. I have started looking at the YTCA site first, but am also looking for firsthand recommendations. I would prefer a West Coast breeder, but would be willing to drive reasonable distance for the right puppy.

Any feedback would be well-appreciated. Thanks :)

Great idea, raising pups in pairs is really fun.

I have no recommendations, but hope you find the perfect little playmate for Sheldon.

At this point, I think I'm going to go with Amazing Yorkies. Even though she is out of state from me, I've heard nothing but rave reviews. I'm only just starting to think about it anyhow. It won't be until at least after the first of 2015. I want them to grow up together, but not sure I wanna deal with two young pups at once. Sheldon is doing well in obedience, so I think by the time he is one, we will be ready.

Carters yorkies in Ga. I got mine in Pensacola, Roxiesyorkies.com. AKC breeder small family raised, she only has 2-3 litters per year. These are yorkies not Biewer, tho. I have one of each. don't know ant Biewer breeders in FL that I would recommend.

Yes Deb's pups are Amazing. I believe she relocated to Oregon.... Too bad she is so far away. Still an excellent choice. Sheldon will be such a good big brother to the new one next year :D

She may have waiting lists so you might want to go ahead and talk to her.

You could contact the Central Florida Yorkshire Terrier Association. They can direct you to a good breeder in Florida. There are also some shows in Orlando coming up that you could attend.

What kind of shows are coming up and where can I look up that info on shows? I would love to attend one and Orlando isn't that far for me.

I got my Marcel (my avatar) from a show / YTCA breeder here in AZ, and I know she is able to use a flight courier to fly her pups in cabin to you.

I can refer you to 3 or 4 Biewer breeders in Florida. And I'm in California.

The only thing that worries me about this breeder is that she lets her pups go at 8 weeks old. "My Yorkie Puppies are available to go to their new homes when they are 8 weeks old."

Guess I will have to toot my own horn, as they say. I raise yorkies, but only 1 or possibly 2 litters a year. They are AKC registered, and I have 2 females that I breed. One of the females is 6 lbs, the other is 5 lbs. The 5 lbs Yorkie, (Sassy) is due October 15th 2014 and my other one, Rosie, just had a litter. Her pup is now 10 weeks old, male, with Florida Health Certificate, tail docked, 1st set of shots, dew claws removed, and spoiled. He's sitting on my lap as we speak. I try very hard to be reasonable with my prices.. This little boy is charting 4.5-5 lbs. full grown. I'm in Jacksonville, Fl. My girls seem to go very fast. I am starting a waiting list already. Do you do the available health testing? How far back do you know your lines?

Yes I do go back in testing, and know all the dogs personally. Parents, grandparents, and some even some great grandparents. I use only 2 males that I have found to have the best genes. Even one of the males I use, has the chocolate gene. They have been DNA tested, UTD on all shots, and prevented meds. They are in my house, in fact I am in the middle of making them their own bedroom.

You don't know farther back then great grandparents? I don't think breeding a dog that has a gene to produce a color fault is breeding to better the breed in my opinion.

I also do not ship. I like to see and meet the people that are adopting my puppies. So I will have people come to my house, see the puppies, talk with them, see how they interact with my babies, etc. I have a very good, and reasonable Vet, so I try to pass any savings on to other people.

I know the parents, grand parents, and great grand parents Personally. Sorry if I don't know the Great, Great, Great Grandparents Personally! AND as the color gene, it is not a fault. They are beautiful Yorkie puppies. Thank you.

It is a color fault. You breed but you don't know the Yorkie standard?

OK, I did not come on here to argue with someone about color, or grandparents. I know what the rules are for breeding, AKC regulations, and the health and well being of my dogs and puppies. The male I use SOMETIMES has chocolate yorkies. I believe he has produced 4-5. Most of the time the yorkies are Traditional. I personally love all yorkies. No matter what color they are.

I do to but the only only reason to breed is to better the breed and creating a color fault is not doing that. I love all yorkies too I'm just going by why reputable breeders breed. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America is also a good club to be apart of you may want to check it out. It's important to remember just having AKC dogs does not automatically make you reputable because even puppy mills sell AKC dogs.
