how many puppies x Hi my daisy had her first litter just over a year ago, she is 45 days pregnant today. (13. Aug 2014). She had seven puppies. She looked after them so good. We did lose one of the puppies at 2 days old she was much much smaller then the others. What I was wondering do you think she could be carrying another big litter. She got so big this time and last time and so early as well. I did use a smaller stud this time, last year the stud was a little bit bigger than daisy but this time I used a stud smaller then her. Daisy is 8.5 inch tall. What do you yhink about the size of a litter. She has been to vet he cant say how many. I just wondered what others think. thanks lisa |
Hello and welcome to YorkieTalk. It think there is a very good possibility that Daisy will have 7 or more puppies again. It is the female that determines how many pups she will have. The size of the male has nothing to do with that. As you know, large litters require a lot of work. It sounds like she did well with her first litter. I am sorry you lost the little one. Eclampsia is a big concern with big litters so be sure she gets plenty of food and a good calcium supplement after the pups are born. |
