Anyone heard of Vicki Hill from MD? Good afternoon! I am in the process of looking for a Yorkie puppy around the Northern Virginia region and ran across Vicki Hill on the American Kennel Club website. She is a breeder from Baltimore, MD. I was wondering if anyone here has adopted from her? Is she a reputable breeder? Thanks :) |
I'm sorry, haven't heard about her. AKC website advertising is just that. When you register a litter, they ask you if you want to advertise the litter for an additional fee. All you may know from the ads on the site is they are AKC registered. Google the name, and see if anything comes up. |
I have, and she is horrible to work with! Hello- save yourself and do not work with Vicki(you or anyone else in the future!) She doesn't answer your calls, is very rude in person and on the phone about your dog and she has the "balls" to tell us to go to the vet because she thinks something is wrong with our dog when there clearly is NOT( she has had five puppies before!) maybe something is wrong with her stud dog did you ever think of that?! our dog didn't get pregnant the first time breeding with her dog and in the contract it states if not pregnant the first time the next is free- we skipped her next heat for two very specific reasons- we are not a puppy mill and wanted to give our girl a mental and physical break from breeding stress and ALSO because our baby boy was being born at the next heat! So at the next one we called her and she said it was breech of contract and she would be doing us a favor. Um, no. Reading comments before, you would think she would be glad we skipped a heat and appreciate that we aren't trying to run our dog ragged. she stopped answering my calls so we started calling from a different number and she picked up! how rude!! now we took her to the vet to make sure all is well and after spending that $$ she is fine and also missed the heat. waste of time and energy! find someone else to work with. |
I purchased a AKC yorkie In Baltimore, Maryland from Vicki Hill. People always claim that AKC yorkies are better. Not! My yorkie developed a roach back in 11 months. A roach back is a vertebral malformation with kyphosis and secondary spinal cord compression. Her vertebral malformation is in the midthoracic portion of the vertebral column. Unfortunately, she had a vertebral malformation at birth, but the clinical signs of spinal cord compression didn't occur until a year later. The kyphosis that causes the spinal cord compression developed at the site of the malformation as she aged, and this accounts for the age of onset of the progressive spastic paraparesis and ataxia of the pelvic limbs. AKC breeders need to start getting the proper test done to make sure that their dog's are suitable for breeding. Roach back is caused by genetic inheritance possibly exposure of pregnant bitches to compounds causing birth defects during fetal development, toxins, nutritional deficiencies, and stress. |

Thank you! You live and you learn. |
Have you checked out YTCA site. The breeders there are mostly show people. My experience has been that they are happy to,give references. |
I appreciate that. If I ever decide to buy another yorkie I will use this list only. |
