Breeding Question For those of you experienced breeders..... have you noticed a difference in female/male ratio by breeding only early in the cycle for females and later for males? With our horses, breeding early helps the odds of fillys and breeding later increases the chances of getting colts. |

 Ok guys, :D put on your thinking caps and THINK THINK THINK. You know, if it does work the same way, just thing what a HUGE difference it could make! |
Off hand I have had the same bitch bred by the same male. She had one litter that was 3 boys 1 girl then next litter (remember repeat breeding) all 5 girls..I did progestrones readings both times. I breed her on days 9 and 11..everything was the same except the sexes of the pups was opposite  |
If it is the same as humans, the male sperm are faster but don't live as long so intercourse has to take place as close to ovulation as possible to increase the chance of a boy. For better chances for a female intercourse can take place further away from the time of ovulation. |
Ok I know about the swimmy thing, same in horses, but..... correct me if I am wrong, bitches release eggs over a period of days, right? |
