Princess is in labor need advice I whent to get her in her whelping box and she jumped right up to go potty. When I looked at her bottom I saw the sac just hanging there. I know they say to wait at least a hour to see the baby's. But she seems to calm no heavy breathing, not uncomfortable nothing she's just sleeping in her whelping box. Is this normal. I want to stay cool but I called my mentor and she's at work. I'm probably just nervouse give me your input. |
I don't see any breeders online, I'd call the vet. |
Try not to interfere as much as you can. If this goes on for much call the vet and ask them why this is happening and what could you do to help. Keep her as calm as possible and let her walk around, sometimes they get the urge to go for potty but don't let her out. Put some puppy pads/newspaper down if she wants to pee incase she might drop outside. Watch her very carefully. Hope all goes well! Best wishes. |

One precious puppy-congrats! Hope the mama starts feeding little Valentina. Thank you for keeping us updated. |
I am happy the baby survived the process....I was concerned about the way things were unfolding..... Momma may take a day or two to accept baby....I think I saw in another thread you were tube feeding...4.5cc (ml) is right for her weight.....feed every 3 hours, and weigh the baby twice a day to be sure baby is not loosing weight......I personally would give her 4cc so she continues to try to nurse from momma....that helps with the bonding and helps the milk come down.....and baby needs the colostrum from momma. (( Another tip....for anyone that reads this in the future....when your momma needs a c-section, have the vet save the placenta for you....when you get momma home with her puppy, rub that placenta on baby and let momma get that scent and lick it off the baby....the hormones she gets (even from just cleaning the baby up) in the placenta, triggers the bonding with the baby, and she will realize that tiny little strange squeeking thing in there with her, is hers and she needs to take care of it. I dont let my mopmmas eat all of the placentas when they whelp naturally.....just a couple will do....it can make them vomit.....and when I have a section done, I always bring a couple placentas home, rub it all over the puppies and let momma clean her baby up.....that is enough placenta to trigger the bonding...)). Are you feeding one of the formulas on this site, rather than just canned puppy formula? I would suggest doing that....Congratulations on your baby....watch her closely with momma for a couple of days.....help momma with nursing, positioning her on her side and stroking her and calming her while you put puppy on a teat........ |
