Patches of white hair under the paws Hello everyone! I noticed a couple of days ago that my new pups have a small patch of white hair under some of their paws. A long time ago someone told me that a white patch indicated a certain type of coat. Anyone heard of that before? Will the white turn into gold? What's the deal with these patches? They're cute, but I'd like to know what to expect. Thanks! |
A little bit of white on the chest and paws is very normal. It really does not have any indication on what kind of coat they will have. I had been told that white on the chest means a silkier coat but I don't think it is necessarily true. In most cases the white does normally disappear. |
One of the reasons I picked out Blazer was because I loved his four white feet and the blaze of white on his chest. He has a cotton coat, not a silky one. |
OK. Thanks for your responses. Speaking of coat, around what age can you be certain of the coat type? |

This is a very good YT 'sticky' that gives a lot of information about yorkie coats and color: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rt-thread.html |

Everyone in their lines so far have been standard blue and gold Yorkies, unless there's a recessive gene that had not shown up until now. We'll see. The spots are under some of the paws and are small (not the entire paw) |
my girl has a white spot on her chest (its changing now) and a tuft of white hair under her bottom lip that is still there neither parent had any white on them, nor did her 2 sisters. Breeder said it should change as her adult coat comes in.... |
