This is what *I* can feel Bella is being very skittish about us touching her now, infact, she can be in a deep sleep and if she hears us move or notices us get close to her, she´s jumpy and she moves away where she wont be touched. Even so, I have been able to feel her belly (which as I said, she doesnt like) and on either side, where her ribs end (and a soft nothingness would usually be), there is a longish "lump" in that area that will "disapeer" once my hand touches it...as if it moves away. It reminds me of when I was pregnant with my own children and I could distinctively feel their back against my belly if I laid my hand in a certian place...does that make sense? I can feel one on either side of Bella, and the lumps are about the size of a tiny mouse (sorry about the comparison, but living in the countryside, this is what comes to mind lol). Her abdomen is swollen and it´s not soft like it was before either. Now, I am still finding it very hard to just come out and say "yes, she´s pregnant" because I guess that in my mind, I´m in disbelief (in a good way), or I´m just worried to get my hopes up or jinx something, but I decided to go ahead and try (very softly and gently) to palpate Bella myself and this is what I found. Did I just palpate 2 puppies? Is that what I felt? She would be due at the end of this month (29th of September to the 1st of October) so would these little "bumps" correspond to puppies of this gestational age? I get to see my mentor on Friday and the vet on Monday :D |
.........LOL :p Sorry, don't really mean to laugh at you, but oh do I remember those days of wanting to know.....needing to know; wanting to believe my theory....any theory that would say that my female was indeed pregnant. It is an awful and wonderful time rolled into one; anticipating the excitement of the pitter patter of puppy paws and yet also feeling the fear of "what if it didn't take?". From the other thread you started with the belly pictures, I am still going with my theory/guess that Bella is pregnant. Likely by now, yes her belly is starting to become more firm, their moods change, etc. How about her appetite, has it increased....decreased and then increased? I haven't had a girl yet that did not get morning sickness, lasting about 3 weeks, but then their appetite returns with a vengeance, eating at least three meals a day. Watch for (or have you noticed) a clear sticky discharge; this at around the 5 week mark is an almost definite sign that they are pregnant. Most of all, as hard as it is...........try to sit back and forget about wondering "if". Just go with the idea that she is pregnant, read up on anything & everything you can about canine pregnancy & whelping, and then read some more. Get the needed whelping supplies together because before you know it, those puppies will be here. |

I was wiping it away at first because it was leaving a crust around her vulva, but now Bella tends to take care of it on her own.I am still having to help though, it leaves her butt area very sticky. |
I am not a breeder. I have only watched a whelp on youtube. But I so hope your pup is with puppies!! I can't wait to find out. And its already the middle of September. Good luck. Praying for sweet girl! :) |
If it stesses her out to touch her belly then I would not do it you want to keep her stress free |
How is Bella doing? Did you go to the vet......find out for sure one way or the other? According to your earlier posts, she would be due in just another couple of weeks. You've got us all curious...............:) |
