Looking for the "right" breeder I posted about a month ago looking for a breeder.... Since then, I've attended local dog shows and met with a few breeders locally. We also *Adopted* a 14 year old yorkie, Cassie, who has brought soooo much happiness back into our lives! May I add, I just couldn't imagine parting with my pet EVER... but at 14?! Who does that?! Either way, this happy little girl is loving her life over here :) BUT we are STILL looking for the "right" breeder. We are ultimately looking for two puppies. One more traditional, the other not so much. For the traditional I believe we are satisfied with the breeders we've spoken to/met. We met with Jana at Premirror yorkies yesterday and will be meeting with Charmine with Charkara yorkies sometime this week! For the 'less traditional' yorkie I'm at a loss. My Phoebe was Perfection! At least in my eyes... she was larger then most traditional yorkies (7 1/2-8lbs) and was gold and BLACK in color. Her coat was a mix between cotton and silk... when she was freshly groomed she felt more silky, but naturally, it seemed thicker and almost like cotton compared to our other traditional (Kahlua). Now I know Phoebe wasn't bred to standard.. so I guess I'm not looking for standard and maybe I need to look away from the show breeders to find this type of yorkie. What I don't want is a backyard breeder, a puppy mill, or someone who is carelessly breeding for money. If ANYONE has any good references for a breeder (not show breeder) that may produce yorkies (size doesn't matter too much) with more compact bodies, black and gold in color, and a thicker coat, PLEASE let me know!! I'm having issues posting pictures of Phoebe to give you all an idea of what I'm looking for :/ Thank you in advance!!! |
